Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Imagine if we got Ben Simmons on the cheap then Donovan Mitchell convinced him to come out of hibernation and get back to his best days.

We could go from having the worst perimeter defense in the league to having one of the best perimeter defending teams in recent memory (Simmons, Beverley, and Vanderbilt).

So Don is going to motivate him to play defense? Hmmm… seems unlikely.

If Conley isn’t getting moved, it has to be that his contract is seen as negative value that we’d have to attach picks to. Better to rehab his value and flip him to a contender at the deadline if that is the case.
If that’s the case, then it might make sense to trade Jordan Clarkson now on his contract and get an asset, and then move Conley into Clarkson’s 6th man role.

imo, he should play center - that's where he can help a team the most. he can defend 90% of the centers in the league and he can run the floor and make plays in transition better than all of them.
Then let's try that. Good defender, limited offensively. That sounds familiar. But he is more switchable and better passer and can score over smaller players. Then use Vanderbilt as your backup big. And if we need muscle then we have Dok or Kessler.

Too bad teams can't have two players on their Designated Rookie Extensions.

Phoenix has lots of expiring or short salary to do a Ben addition into the trade. If they move Ayton to Toronto for Trent Jr. and a first they have even more. Take Ben and keep Cam Johnson. Pray Ben isn't broken. If CP can setup rolling bigs imagine what he can do for Ben with KD and Book flanking him. He may just be broken though.

There's an argument for calling Simmons the worst contract in the league right now.
Which is why whoever gets KD should eat that deal unless there is another suitor that will give something up for it.

BS/KD

For

Bridges/Crowder/Saric/Shamet/Ayton and one of Craig or Cam Payne gets you in the ballpark salary wise. 4 firsts and pick swaps so they can route stuff for Donovan... They now have Donovan/Bridges and Ayton or whatever they got for Ayton from Toronto to restart things... they don't have any Ben drama and can move forward.

We get the picks and expiring salary or Harris too if they don't think he will be healthy.

Ben is possibly the biggest upside swing with some really ****** downside... Its at least a fair bet. 3 years left of the deal... If you got Ben and all the Phoenix picks for Donovan it would be tempting. I just worry the guy hurts the culture you are building and is likely a tough assignment for a first time head coach.

This is part of trade negotiations, but if BRK wants all the value imaginable for KD, I don't see where the value comes from to compensate UTA for Mitchell. Ainge should be asking for Ayton, plus at least 2 picks and 2 swaps, for Mitchell.

the nets should demand that much for him, but yeah, once they get that offer, it's time to move on. that's ridiculous. that group, plus the current roster absolutely contends in the east, plus they get to still build for the future. kd probably has 2 or 3 good years. you have to make that deal.
