Beverley to Lakers for THT and Stanley Johnson

Finished the game vs the warriors on march 5th won the game THT played 17 uneventful minutes. It’s easy to see why he struggled. Lakers retooled adding westbrick and crymelo. He no longer fit what this team wanted to do. Seemed he didn’t have a real role being lost between LBJ westbrick and Carmelo. In this game he was 0-3 with two points from the ft line a rebound and two assists. He looks like he struggles to stay in front of quicker guards. Interested to see what he does on a young jazz team. With almost no established stars. Could be exactly what he needs.

I don’t think he’s a long term guy. IMO, he’s the Jazz version of Semi Ojeleye. A fringe athlete that can’t shoot distance at the NBA level. I’m fine with getting him, but I feel like there should’ve been better options for trading away Pat Beverley who seemed to have been in some demand.

I do like that DA is loading up on wing sized players. They aren’t high quality wings yet. . . but it’s about damn time.

Since the end of the season, they’ve traded away Royce O’Neale but added Vando, Bolmaro, Fontecchio, Beasley (ish), THT and Stanley Johnson.

Where is Carmelo playing this year? Has he signed anywhere?

Pelinka calls Ainge:
"We are interested in the services of Patrick Beverley"

Danny:
"So what are you offer...
*Hardy whispering smth*
.. nevermind Rob, its a deal."

Looking back at this trade it was a swap of terrible players except one has an expiring contact and one has a player option at the end of the year.

THT is not a terrible player. He was just playing really well and then went into a bit of a slump. Unfortunately we kept our vets and are trying to win games so Hardy isn't allowing guys to play out of their funks with heavy minutes. Lucky for us Conley got injured so that Sexton was forced into heavy minutes which helped him to get out of his slump. Now THT is in a slump and NAW has been playing well. Unfortunately when Conley gets back we are going to have an even larger minutes crunch which gets in the way of actually developing these guys. We really need this team to continue losing for the next month so Ainge has a better excuse to dump Clarkson, Olynyk and hopefully Conley. As of now we just have too many guys that need minutes to develop and go through growing pains. During the second half of the season I think this is the ideal minutes rotation to see what we actually have with some of these guys.

C- Kessler 24, Lauri 10, Dok 14
Pf- Vandy 26, Lauri 10, Fontech 12
Sf- Lauri 15, Ochai 10, NAW 14, Fontech 9
Sg- Beasley 28, THT 12, Ochai 8
Pg- Sexton 30, Naw 10, THT 8

I think that is enough minutes for everyone to develop and see if they could be long term pieces while likely losing a lot of games. Add in injuries and we see some guys get even heavier minutes to see what they can do.

No Clarkson? Did he get traded and I missed it?

In that scenario Clarkson, Conley and Olynyk are moved. Of all the guys Clarkson is the guy that should most likely be traded with his current level of play and the size of his contract. I bet there are at least 5 teams that would view him has the missing piece to make a legit championship run. It sucks that next year he has a player option rather than a team option because that does hurt his value. For me it isn't worth the risk to let him walk for nothing next offseason and if we were to re-sign him I think it could take something in the 4yr 80-100 mil range based on his current level of play.

THT is really bad. Have you looked at his shooting percentages? His FG% is bad, his 3PT% is bad, his TS% is bad, his EFG% is bad. It’s all bad with him.
