Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

The only guys I can think of that fit the player type @bigmike is talking about are Jerami Grant, John Collins and OG Anunoby. Considering salary as well as they’d likely be in the 16M-23M range. Not sure who else it would be who’s available.
Maybe Josh Hart but that wouldn't be someone we need to add picks to get imo.

I mentioned Portland a few days ago (so did you) as a team that likely ends up doing something. A lot do tradable players with tradable contracts.

If we had to add picks then Collins is out as well. Pretty much slims it down to Grant or OG unless I’m missing someone.

If he agreed to that extension I’d be willing to give up a better pick than the BKN/PHI pick.
I don't think you'd need to tbh. Grant was traded for cap space and a protected first this summer. Not sure if he doesn't want to sign the extension or if Porty hasn't offered it. Maybe its a different market today than it was in the summer though. KO/Vando and BKN 1st is fair... if he's willing to sign the extension.

I will do the following if its on the table:

JC for Beasley/Vando - if we get a pick.
Grant for KO/Vando - if all we have to give is the Brooklyn pick and he signs an extension. I'm more in on this than any of the others.
Beasley for OG - if all we have to give is 1 unprotected pick.

I'd rather be a seller and just collect a few picks while losing a bit more... but if we are buying I can see those as good opportunities.

Grant has done really well playing next to Dame and Simons... which is likely equal parts blessing and curse... I think Billups sucks as a coach... I think Hardy might be able to use someone like Grant really well.

I'm intrigued... and I'm the tank champ... hmmmm.

What's the theory here for the Blazers? Unless they're in blow-it-up mode (which I haven't seen any indication of other than Bill Simmons hinting that they should be), what would they be accomplishing here? I'm not really seeing it.

Yeah... I am not sure other than they kind of have interim ownership and an interim GM and they may not want to do a full blow up so you get something for a guy that you don't want to pay and think is a flight risk if you don't... and it give you some guys you can keep in the meantime.

The other route is they could just blow it up. This is the move you do before you trade Dame (who is clearly frustrated).

They’re 21-25 and are at risk of losing Grant for nothing this summer.

Grant would be ****ing awesome if he signed an extension with us. I’d take him over Collins for sure if he did that. I also would still love to get Collins. I would also love to get OG but it really would depend on the price with him because that could just be a 1.5 year rental.

Had we kept Bogi then we would have had a Beasley/Bogi conundrum and Lauri would have been forced to 4/5 rotation.

Also no way Bogi raises his value here like he has in Detroit as their #1... especially not when competing for minutes with Beasley.

Bogi for KO wasnt as bad of a trade as the current trade values might suggest.

Realistic scenarios and I’d reluctantly accept any with a preference for the Beasley for OG. If we could somehow replace Gay for Vando (hell throw in Fontechio as well) in the other two I’d be as enthusiastic as this guy:

It really is the price with OG. I think the bird rights might be enough to have me think we could keep OG but fake trade scenarios are sending like 3 firsts for him. I think the extension rules could become more favorable for teams in the next 12 months (or sooner) so you might end up having options that prevent him from getting to FA.

Im with you. OG is an elite wing defender who can lock down 1-3 and defend smaller 4s well.. he addresses something we must anyways be able to address at some point.

I do think OG went from slightly underrated to slightly overrated.

Good call! I would also add that their one and only pick is top 14 protected this year.

Exactly! Also, I just see Beasley as being far more expendable than Vando. We’re loaded with long range sharpshooters that do little else. Vando does a lot of the dirty work - his rebounding and assists are off the charts - AND he became a .340 three point shooter this season after only taking a handful prior.

That being said, as much as Lillard respects the guy (from previous remarks) this looks like the deal. And fair enough, Grant would be worth it.
