Well the alleged Knicks offer came when Raptors werent sure if they were gonna be sellers yet. And we dont know details of insurances on those picks etc.
They would have as much reason to offer it now. it would be on the table. We don't know but we also definitely know.
Tell me then.. where in the draft you pick for a guy you easily develop into 75%-80% of OG? Also, are you settling for 75%-80% version in the long run? Or are you just 100% sure we cannot re-sign him?
Draft one, sign one, trade for one... i will take the budget version of OG over the premium one if the price is the same as say Dejounte Murray's trade price.
He was drafted 23rd and there were at least 3 other 3&D guys picked before him, none of whom developed into solid starters even. So will we pick the right guy even?
Chances of drafting a solid 3 and D guy are pretty good. Guys drafted between 10-30 since the 2017 draft
OG
Derrick White
Josh Hart
2018
Mikal Bridges
Kevin Huerter (more 3 than D but provides 75% of OG's on court value at least)
Miles Bridges
2019
Cam Johnson
PJ Washington
Grant Williams
2020
Devin Vassell
Josh Green
Saddiq Bey
Jaden McDaniels
2021
Zhaire Williams (maybe? stay tuned)
Trey Murphy
Quentin Grimes
2022 its too early but these guys are pretty promising
Jalen Williams
Ochai
AJ Griffin
Tari Eason
Braun
Not all 3 and D types but this also ignores guys that are way more dynamic we'd rather have on the wing. There are a handful of these player types that pop almost every year. We have enough picks to take a few shots and to move up and get the ones we want.
And for him not being in DPOY convo.. maybe right now other guys are hotter topics but he was odds leader at one point early December and is still 5th despite his team being bad.
Here are articles from that early December timeframe and NBA ladder from last week where he also sits (unranked 4-10)
Celtics stars, including the reigning NBA DPOY, praised O.G.'s defensive prowess before and after Monday's game. Anunoby showed it on the court, too.

Thats fine... I remember too. I just think December is the month you end up hearing **** like "does Demar Derozan have an MVP case? I just think if you are a really impactful defender at the level of best in the league that maybe your team shouldn't be at the defensive level of like the Kings and Blazers... unless you are surrounded by terrible defenders - FVV, Trent jr., Pascal are generally considered to be plus defenders.
Its not that I think he is a **** player... I think he's very good. He's going to be valued on the trade market like he's an all-star... he is not that.
