Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

We take back Westbrook and Harris. We send out Conley/Clarkson/Beasley/Olynyk.

I’m not sure on the dynamics of the trade but the Nets could get Conley/Clarkson plus either Beasley or Olynyk. Beasley or Olynyk goes to the Lakers with Kyrie. If the Lakers are worried about adding to their luxury tax bill we could take back two of their minimum salaries.

The Nets get rid of some bad salary with sending Harris to us. Conley/Clarkson plus Beasley or Olynyk helps them win now. They also save 3.9M this year.

Lakers get Kyrie plus another quality player for their two picks. They could save 1M if they sent two minimum players to us.

We get two unprotected picks or maybe one is lightly protected and clear a bunch of salary at the end of the season.

It just makes too much sense for all three teams.
This is what I have been touting since kyrie asked for a trade.

The only things that challenge this are...

If the nets want the picks (which, why grab picks when you have Durant unless you plan to punt this year and blow it up).

Or, if another team blows you away with more.

I don't see the Nets wanting Westbrook. Even if they did, they could risk getting Westbrook on a buyout after grabbing Conley, Clarkson, and Vanderbilt all at a lower tax bill.

I think folks are giving up too much from the Jazz perspective. Sure two picks from LA are good, but the Jazz value Conley, Clarkson, Beasley, and possibly Vando at 1 frp each. So only two of those guys should be in the trade.

Are the nets willing to take Conley and Beasley or Clarkson for Kyrie? Im not giving them more than two of those players, because that’s all the value the lakers are sending.

Jazz can send matching salary to the lakers with Doke and/or Balmaro and Gay.

Jazz still retain Olynyk and Vando and they still have either Clarkson or beasley for more deals.

It’s really the nets and lakers that should feel the pressure here- no need for the Jazz to overpay in the slightest. Plus what are the Jazz gonna do with a bunch of cap room anyway. Nobody comes here in free agency, remember?

If I wanted to compete now, I’d definitely want Conley, Clarkson and Vanderbilt over the picks. Hope the Nets agree. . .

I mean now that we know that Kyrie to the Lakers can't happen, where do we think he ends up?
Monty guessed wrong again. I mean, according to odds he should hit like 50% on these yes or no things? How does he actually manage to do worse?

My trade deadline prediction:

Players likely out: Vando, Beasley, KO.

Multiple calls and offers for all three have been leaked to media, most likely from inside our building to create competition. KO has drawn less interest but I still think we move him.

Vets likely staying: Conley and Clarkson.

There is no smoke around Clarkson. Either there are no calls (which would be weird) or we dont want to create competition (which would be weird if we were actively looking to trade him). Conley asking price has deterred away suitors. Obviously a good value offer might still come late and make us flip either or both of these two.

Players and picks coming in:
I think we end up adding only 1 FRP (unless we flip more than the trio) and instead focus on bringing in few new players to evaluate for the rest of the season, whose value we can raise even if they arent great fits.

Collins looks unlikely since we need the FRP for the contract risk which Atlanta is likely not giving us, but the NYK duo, someone from Blazers (Hart?) or 1-2 other frontcourt guys who at least theoretically fit better with Lauri and Kessler seems like the likeliest move based on what has been going on.

Pipe dream surprise trade:
Convince Memphis our trade chips help them win now and swindle them to give us Santi Aldama.

Picks. Picks. Swaps. And more picks. Go get ‘em Danny.

Went to the Stars game last night and I noticed Kelly O. Was sitting on the bench with Sexton. Wonder if they do move Kelly or if he’s a culture guy?

KO: Only 2 ways he is getting traded imo, is if he was never Danny's Boy after all. Or since he is on a decent contract that is only partially guaranteed next season. Maybe if a first from a team like Miami for him is on the table Danny offers him a under the table offer to come back to the Jazz after a vacation in South Beach

as quiet as it has been on the Clarkson front, I fully expect him to be shipped out and nobody saw it coming where.
I think Vander and Beasley are obviously the most desireable players the Jazz have that other orgs are hoping they can snag for cheap.
I think they are mistaken and will have to overpay or Danny will just keep them. They are in the rotation on a 500 team and good players.
I think matching salary for Mike would mean we had to take back some bad contract and I think the majority of teams that could use him don't have the draft capital to get Danny to say yes.
I think logic says JC or Beasley are going to somewhere lacking guard depth due to injuries but is already a contender in win now mode. Maybe Suns. But at the same time I could see a trade that Danny wants like Scary Terry and one of Kai Jones or JT Thor from CHA for JC and one of THT or NAW + a 2nd more probable. Obviously CHA does it to get out of Rozier's contract.
