Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Okay, I think the Jazz have traded everything they have, so we can conclude this thread. No one's going to take Rudy Gay.

Royce, Rudy, Donovan, Bojan, PatBev, Mike, Malik and JV8 all moved.... Our work is done here. Good job, everyone....

I feel used.

We helped Minny get rid of a big problem.

We helped make the Lakers relevant in the playoff hunt.

And for our efforts we got... a non-guaranteed 1st. It could be good, it could be very meh.

The Laker's should have ended with Conley for their own sake. We should have received more for bailing teams out. I think we could have done much better with other teams. Clearly, we hyper-valued cap relief and sucking the rest of the year.

Yup, as I said the other day, we gave up the most but got the very least.

I think that Lakers pick protected 1-4 has good value. We got off Conley's deal for next season. Lakers will do well to get to 40 wins and sneak in the play-in as the 10th seed. Jazz want their lottery spot anyway. T'wolves probably end up as the 8th or 9th seed and will have to fight their way into the playoffs. Lakers could even take them out during the play-in process.

It's all good.

I'd rather have an unprotected pick but people complaining should think about this...

Imagine the lottery is tomorrow... You can receive either -

- The 18th pick in the draft.
- Or you can have a pick that has a 48% chance at being the 5th - 7th pick in the draft and a 52% chance at being the 31-35th pick in the draft.

Which option do you take?

Worst case scenario the Lakers are the worst team in the league... and that honestly might be better than an "in-between" type scenario where they are a lower end playoff team.

Everyone is acting like the pick is guaranteed to be in the top-4. Odds are it won’t be. It is heavily favored to convey to us in the first round.

If they are the worst team in the league the pick still has a 48% chance at being the 5th pick... that isn't a bad scenario... worst case they are good and it is a pick in the late 20s. I think people acting like its a "fake first" are being really disingenuous.

This is a great summary and perfect explanation about why exactly this pick is valuable. The worst case scenario for the Jazz is not that the Lakers are the worst team in 27. This gives us about 50% chance at a no.5 pick, which is a GREAT value to have. The worst case scenario is that the Lakers are the best team in the league, which quite honestly I don't see happening... On your question - I would pick the 50-50 shot rather than the 18th pick.

Well that's pretty much what you told and promised everyone before we knew about the protection...

And I haven't since much of that talk since the details came out, certainly not everyone.

It's a completely average 1st round pick. Probably unlikely to be in the 20s. Somewhat equal chance of it being 31-34 / 5-8 / 9-15.

Zach Lowe is saying he can confirm the Nets got a trade proposal for Mikal Bridges for 4 1st round picks. He doesn't say what team that came from.

What do you guys say is the chance it was Danny making that offer? I think pretty high. He famously was ready to give up 4 1sts in order to get Winslow in the draft a few years back...

Yeah I think the tipping point is like the 13-14th pick where I'd take the guarantee.

I think it's very low. It's also for sure NY who's been trying to throw around meh first rounders left and right.

I don't think it was us. I am guessing it was the grizz. They can give their own picks and the GS pick they own. If it was us I am guessing a couple were protected.

I think Danny knows where we are and knows its in our best interest to suck this year. Next year I could see us making a move like that if we pick up a high level rookie or two.

It would depend on the class too. Maybe there are like... 5-6 great prospects and then everyone past 7-8 to about 30 is at about the same strength. Then I would probably need top 10 pick in order to forego the coin flip.

Pretty low chance it was Danny. Almost guarantee it was a contender.

I'd say almost zero chance it was Ainge. Maybe if we were further along in our rebuild, but even then I would have a hard time seeing Ainge offering 4 firsts.
