Nice segment.. but D Wade keeps calling Salt Lake.. “the City of Utah” .. lol..

He was trying to emphasis that the team is more connected than just SLC. He was talking about Salt lake county connected to Utah county and it's basically one big city now and also tying in park city. He said it's not a small market team. He's trying to change a lot of narratives in this segment that may or may not be true. But either way he's purposely saying that to make it bigger than SLC for various reasons.

The game is what it is. I don't know how we change it. It was clear that a few guys were actually trying out there - Embiid, Donovan, Tatum and a few others. Hell, even LeBron was contesting shots at the rim, but look at what that got him - he hurt his hand.

Pretty sure JC was still recovering from Friday night. The Skills Comp could have been better but the 3-Point and Slam Dunk was solid. I'll give Day 2 an overall score of 47.
Out of 200? I agree,

1000% THIS!

The LeBron James invitational needs to end.
You missed one of the most awkward moments I can remember in NBA history...they brought out the top 3 all-time scorers and more or less forced Kareem and Malone to bend the knee to "King" James. My hell, what an entitled and narcissistic douchebag. I normally am not one to wish ill on others, but if LeBron got a career-ending injury that wasn't super-serious, just enough to prompt him to finally ****ing retire, it would be one of the best things that could happen to the league.

I didn't see it that way at all. The way I see it, that was done as much to acknowledge a Utah Jazz great since the Malone is in the top 3 and we were hosting the game. As soon as LeBron was announced, he moved to quickly to show gratitude to DWade for the intro then brought Kareem and Malone closer to him as a joint embrace.

LeBron can be pompous and has his annoying moments for sure, but media coverage just is what it is. The NBA desperately tries to prop up players generation by generation. It's just what they do.

People are quick to hate on LeBron because they are quick to hate on something. He's just the first superstar in the social media era. Before him, players only got praise.

Eh, agree to disagree. You are very dismissive of any further discussion by labeling any dissenting opinion as "hating just to hate", which is utter ********. Everyone doesn't have to love LeBron. You can, go ahead, no one will stop you.

I'm perfectly fine to keep discussing. At no point did I say otherwise.

Everyone doesn't have to hate LeBron. You can, go ahead, no one will stop you.

idiot. the smoking laws are the same here as anywhere else, and you can most certainly drink, i walked around downtown friday and there are plenty of bars. maybe not as many as some places, but they are there, i saw them myself.
Do you know what a joke is?

Want to make the All Star game competitive again? Make them play for home court during the finals. Go back to East vs West and winner gets home court. I hate watching that no defense BS

If they aren't going to play the game as it's intended...

- Separate the teams and have every All Star compete in a timed skills challenge type competition
- Dribbling, shooting, passing, dunk contest, etc.
- it should be injury free but pushes the players more than their current ole defense game
- the fund raising is now based on quarters and the final winner. The fund raising could be on timing of each competition (dribbling, shooting, passing, etc.) and the total time.

The game itself will never be something hotly contested. Even in the 90s when everything was supposedly perfect and unicorns were everywhere, guys didn't try 100% and the game wasn't that entertaining.

Do a royal rumble style 1 on 1 or 3 on 3 type tournament. Starters pick two other players and then you do a draw right before the first round to see who they play. Winners get $1M each for their charity and a championship belt… it sounds dumb as hell but that championship belt would get them wide eyed. Bring in Michael Buffer if he’s alive and not canceled… go full WWE… have walk up music and everything.

i thought the picking teams and elam ending had worked pretty well in terms of making games competitive (at least for the last few minutes of the game) the last 4 or 5 years, but that was a joke from start to finish. if that's how it is going to be, they shouldn't play the game.
Maybe they should do every quarter with the same format they use in the 4th quarter.

The charity money should be much higher.

I think the losing team should forfeit to charity any money they made by becoming an all star. I just read that the "runners up" in the All Star Game get $25,000 each. Give that all to charity. Winners get $100,000 for winning. $25,000 of that should go to charity too.

Compared to this year's game, the 1993 game was a defensive juggernaut. Look, they actually did things like run plays, commit fouls, and **GASP** pass the ball? WOW!! I forgot that kind of stuff was even possible.

Also the '93 game went into OT with a regulation time score of 119 - 119. Not exactly an offensive explosion. FInal score in the 130's is downright low, even after OT.

Watching some of these highlights of past years really makes Tatum's new scoring record less than meaningless. Imagine if they had let Jordan take every shot, 1 on 1 against anyone, with the other 8 players standing there watching, right in Jordan's prime as a scorer. He would have easily scored 80+ if not 100 by himself.

Not sure how ASG will change. Guys before were just competitive af. Mj, magic, bird they were all trash talking even in dream team practices. Now players are buddy buddy. don't want to hurt their feelings.

Everything has changed. These guys are making so much money outside the sport that the sport doesn't have the same impact. I mean, look at a guy like John Stockton. How much money did he bring in outside of the NBA?

When companies lifted up Michael Jordan, it all started to gradually change. Jordan was doing national commercials for like 10 companies. Ballpark Franks and battery commercials not just Nike, McDonald's, Gatorade and the monster companies.

Guys in the early 90's fought for traction in the only place they knew could pay off - basketball. Now, guys can simply wear a hat walking in pre-game and receive thousands of dollars from some clothing manufacturer.

The players get blamed for being "soft" but it's all business. Business has changed everything.
