Draft Haters List

it was one of his worst games... still managed 17 pts on 14 shots... cuz he can shoot. Guys can add strength and finish better... but if we simply add in the dunks to his 44% layup percentage he is better at the rim than the dudes around where he is drafted. Even if he lives off of dunks and threes he's going to be pretty solid. He's closer to Taylor Himdricks than Taylor Midricks.
I never said he finishes dunks at that clip don’t act like I’m pulling **** out of thin air. Lots of guys can shoot it at the college level and look like stars but I’m not drafting in the 9th position looking to get just a role player. I’d take him at 16 possibly but 9 is for sure too high IMO. Just because he’s big athletic and can shoot in college doesn’t mean it will translate in the nba. I hope he’s good. I don’t have a vendetta against him or anything. If he ends up being more than just a role player, I’ll be thrilled to be wrong. But to do more than just be a role player I feel you need a few more skills and what he has.

I mean he had a couple games where he went 2-12 or 2-9... but he didn't have like i don't know 8 games where he went 1 for something or 2 for something like ya boy did. I'm sure that JHS game where he went 1-14 and scored 3 points with 4 turnovers was some beautiful basketball.
I will say it’s easier to have 1 or 2 for games as a guard compared to bigs who generally get lots of layups and putbacks

Isolating layups versus rim finishing is silly though... he dunks a lot. Other guys don's dunk as much as him. I'd be more concerned that Walker doesn't dunk nearly as much as Taylor than I would that Taylor doesn't finish as much on layups for example (they played in the same conference... so its not a competition thing).

If you don't think the shooting or athleticism translate then fine... but its weird to put feel and one aspect of rim finishing and declare that you don't get it... that's all.

Taylor shoots more threes than JHS doe... so I agree a bit but part of the issue with JHS is he doesn't get to the rim and he didn't shoot it well enough to have any kind of baseline to be efficient night to night. Maybe those things change.

It speaks to the fact he doesn’t create well or dribble well

I’ve read and seen a lot of this in scouting reports. Which I’m sure teams have seen in whatever scouting reports they have on him.

Yes but he gets more at the rim.
that's quite clearly part of the problem... JHS doesn't get to the rim. Its not just a big vs. small thing... JHS doesn't get to the rim or line enough for a guard.

I don't think it does actually... those are concerns but not really related imo... its also funny to give JHS a pass on his shooting because he's a guard and doesn't get to the rim and simultaneously judge a PF based on his self creation and handle.

I've not seen any scouting reports doubt his shooting or athleticism.

Can't stand the takes that boost up one non shooting playmaker, and hate on another one. It just proves the post are made by the clueless.
I am not at all into the idea of drafting any point guard or point forward, just because we need playmaking. Not unless we are going into a multi season rebuild where tanking is the goal and winning is just a side show to development.
I can't stand the idea of us drafting any offensive projects when we should be in win now mode with the Finnisher.
