ABC News reports that "multiple new witnesses" have been contacted in an investigation into allegations of sex trafficking and lobbying violations

A grand jury separately investigated whether the Florida Republican had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid her to travel with him, though investigators recommended not moving forward with trafficking charges against the lawmaker.

ABC News reports that, in recent days, the House committee's investigators have expanded their "contact with individuals who have ties to the initial Justice Department investigation into Gaetz," and that the investigation centers both on the sex trafficking allegations as well as possible lobbying violations by Gaetz.

News of the federal investigation into Gaetz first broke in March 2021 and, according to The New York Times, was opened in the final months of the Trump administration under then-Attorney General Bill Barr.

Sources told NBC News at the time that Gaetz was being investigated for three separate alleged crimes: sex trafficking a 17-year-old; violating the Mann Act by taking a woman or women across state lines for prostitution; and obstruction of justice.

The House Ethics Committee first announced it, too, had begun an investigation into Gaetz in April 2021, saying in a statement, "The Committee is aware of public allegations that Representative Matt Gaetz may have engaged in sexual misconduct and/or illicit drug use, shared inappropriate images or videos on the House floor, misused state identification records, converted campaign funds to personal use, and/or accepted a bribe, improper gratuity, or impermissible gift, in violation of House Rules, laws, or other standards of conduct."

These investigations go back years. I gave up on anything coming from this. I would love for him to be held accountable if he did this, but my faith in the allegations took a big hit when they backed off a couple years ago.

House Republicans cry James Comer's "clueless investigation" is a "disaster": report

As the 2024 presidential election draws closer, Comer's impeachment investigation is nearing its conclusion with no hard-hitting accusations to level against President Joe Biden. More than a dozen Republican lawmakers, senior aides and strategists told The Messenger that how little the probe has accomplished has whittled down the faith they had in the Kentucky Republican.

“Comer has cast a wide net and caught very little fish. That is a big problem for him,” a personal Donald Trump ally told the outlet.

“James Comer continues to embarrass himself and House Republicans. He screws up over and over and over,” a source close to GOP leadership told The Messenger. “I don’t know how Republicans actually impeach the president based on his clueless investigation and lack of leadership.”

Earlier this month, Republicans were readying to hold the younger Biden in contempt of Congress for dodging the deposition, despite Hunter Biden expressing interest in providing a public testimony. Two weeks ago, during an Oversight Committee hearing intended to discuss the contempt resolution, the younger Biden made a surprise appearance that sparked outcry and dissension among the lawmakers.

“It seems like they got played by Hunter Biden,” one senior House GOP aide told the outlet. “It was a disaster. They looked like buffoons.”

GOP members have also taken issue with Comer's Fox News and Newsmax appearances about the probe, where they bemoan his promises of "bombshell information" that he later fails to deliver on

A Trump ally told The Messenger that Comer “set the bar too high” for what constitutes an impeachable offense by trying to prove that Joe Biden accepted a direct payment from his son or brother, James Biden, during the committee panel's dive into the transactions, which the White House dismissed as regular loan repayments.

Proving such a transaction was not necessary, the Trump ally said, explaining that the bar shouldn't be that high for impeachment. “Congress determines what is a high crime and misdemeanor,” the source said.

All while lowering inflation, creating jobs and growing our economy by historic numbers at the same time. Every democratic voter in the country will turn out to vote Blue and for President Biden in November.

Republicans ran almost exclusively on the economy and inflation in the '22 mid terms. Pretty sure they're gonna tackle those issues any day now.

Those two being lesser concerns along with low unemployment, the impeachment inquiry falling flat, gas prices stabilizing etc. they are just running out of things to pile on. There’s still the immigration issue to sort out and things look to be headed in the right direction but you never know. MAGA might pull out at the 11 hour just to keep one campaign issue alive. In the meantime trumps legal woes don’t seem to be dissipating any time soon.

2024 platform: The Democrats are doing invisible bad things that we’ll never find because they’re invisible, but they are doing them. Vote for us because we’ll keep trying to find them!

Right on Trump. Keep doing stuff like this. Make it clear that it's maga against the world. Isolate yourself. Draw lines in the sand. Only increases your chances of losing.

“Dementia Don” has been trending on Twitter. I’ve been enjoying some of the resulting tweets. I think Democratic operative James Caraville helped start the “Trump has syphilis and dementia” thing. Likely all going up his butt sideways, too. He does have the emotional development of a 5 year old. Imagine a debate with Biden, in which Trump says “I know you are, but what am I?”. I can imagine that from our 5 year old ex. I can imagine seeing an insecure man-child come debate time.

Most of it was repair or replacement, not new. He promised to make Mexico pay. They didn't. He pulled money from the Dept of Defense being spent on legitimate projects to fund his wall obsession. He promised to cut the deficit. He added $8T to it. He promised a middle-class tax cut. He cut taxes for the rich. The middle class is paying for it. He said he wouldn't play golf as President. He made 250 visits to his own golf clubs. It cost taxpayers $136 million. He said he'd increase economic growth by 4%. He didn't. President Biden did. He promised an infrastructure plan. He had none. President Biden signed a massive one. He promised to hire "the best people." He fired 3/4 of them, and then said they were the worst ever. He promised to bring down the price of prescription drugs. He didn't: President Biden did. Promised we'd win the trade war with China. We didn't, It cost about a quarter million jobs and hurt Americans. He promised his corporate tax cuts would help and benefit Workers and corporations would use that money to invest in American workers. They didn't, they bought back stocks. But, but I'm struggling financially. That's all I hear from Trump supporters.

He didn't get you healthcare coverage. The number of people without health insurance rose by 3 million
He didn't lower your prescription prices
He didn't get your roads or bridges built
He didn't decrease the deficit
he didn't end the opioid crisis
he didn't revive the coal industry
he didn't make covid-19 'disappear'
he didn't make Mexico pay for the wall
he added $2 Billion a month in tariff costs to the American consumer
The economy lost 3.9 million jobs and the unemployment rate increased by 1.6% to 6.3%. ...a net negative jobs creation for his entire administration. Only the 2nd President in history to do so.
he decreased corporate taxes, passing the tax burden to the workers
he added $ 7.8 Trillion to the deficit - a full 25% of the total
he incited an insurrection against our government
he didn't put "America first" ...We couldn't even buy TP on his watch.
and he sure didn't "Drain the Swamp...
So when you say "he fought for you". You mean he validated your hate?...Because he didn't do anything else...
