Hayward - Do not get it...

Has a great game at Denver , then against Clippers back to no confidence.

He even had Bell and Tinsley coaching him up as he came out.

I do not get it.

He has the talent. He needs to drive more like CJ is now and learn to finish, then the jumpers will come.

He also was one of the few that did not seem overly excited with the blowout. Maybe I am reading too much into body language.

I hope I am wrong, but I have a scary feeling the NBA may not be for him..... Man I hope I am wrong.

We play Thursday , then Saturday. I bet you he still starts both games, but how many minutes he gets depends on his play. He obviously has the shortest leash of all starters.

Then we have a longer break until Wednesday, where he may lose his starting Job to Howard is my bet.

Again, hope I am wrong, I like the kid and yes I realize he is only a sophomore BUT even Burks is more aggressive.

Right before he got pulled from the game Kevin O'Connor was on his feet and going berserk yelling at Hayward. I've never seen O'Connor act like that before, not even close. Hayward did something specific on that play that got KOC fuming mad (I think he took a shot), but I was distracted prior to noticing O'Connor and didn't see exactly what happened. Once Hayward was sitting on the bench he kept shaking his head as if very frustrated or disappointed in what had occurred. He seemed consumed by the incident, and I think that explains his lack of enthusiasm over the blowout. It will be interesting to see how Hayward plays against Dallas. To me, it looks like he may be facing a career defining moment.

I too had high hopes for Hayward this year, but so far he has been pretty disappointing. I hope he figures it out because we need someone on this team who can consistently hit outside shots. And right now that isn't him. As much as I hate to say it, if he can't start producing then we may need to look at other options. Here's hoping that he pulls it together.

Him passing up wide open 3s has me pulling my hair out. That and driving to the basket only to get too far underneath and passing it out in a panic.

Hmmm. If KOC is that into one messed up play that is concerning. I can count on one hand the times Hayward takes too early a shot. That almost NEVER happens so I am surprised by this.

Maybe Hayward is on the trading block..........

The passing out when he gets to the rim is starting to get annoying. When you get that close it's either a basket or a foul 75% of the time. He's putting pressure on the rest of the team when he continually chooses not to finish.

The second shot that Hayward took in the 3rd quarter is most definitely what got him in the doghouse. He took a turnaround baseline 20 footer with a hand in his face and about 20 seconds on the shot clock. Clearly he was starting to jump start his offensive game at the expense of the rest of the team. When you pass up 1 foot lay ins and take shots like that you're just not playing smart basketball.

Despite all this I still see enough in his game to be encouraged by Hayward. It will just come in drips instead of all at once like we had hoped.

...but he loves Utah so much he is missing shots on purpose so that no one else will want him.

I think we gave Hayward an extra year so I believe he is guaranteed this year and next year(we added that last year). IF we were to trade him, now would be the time.

I'm guessing it was when the crowd pressured him into shooting a 3.

How do you know he was yelling at Hayward?

Did he shoot it or pass it up?

He initially passed it, but the crowd was screaming "THREEEEE". Gordon got it right back, but the way he shot it looked really out of rhythm and he missed.

When he initially got it too, there was no one within 10 feet of him.

I agree, that could be it ..

I think you guys are talking about 2 different things. The Hayward 3 was at the end of the first half.

He was benched in the beginning of the 3rd.

That shot from the corner was ill advised, but Raja also took a 3 from the top of the key that was equally poor. I don't really care if every now and then a player tries to get himself going a little bit, but you don't get many chances to do that.

On the positive side, Hayward actually drove and did a little stop and pop in the lane in the 3rd. He missed it, but it was nice to see. He can turn the whole night he had into a positive if he learns from that.
