Eric Gordon - The Jazz's answer to the 3pt

Eric Gordon is NOT a max contract type player. Man I can't believe how some fans just love to throw around MAX contracts. I like Gordon a lot but he is not better than Millsap. In my opinion the MAX contract are for the Kobe, Dirk and Lebrons of the NBA. Unfortunately, franchises love to give them out to players who don't deserve them i.e. AK, Redd, Rashard Lewis etc.

Please reread what I wrote. "Close to the max", and for me that means about $10 to $12 million a year.

He was asking for crazy money from the Clippers, which I believe is part of the reason they were willing to part with him in the Paul trade. Yes, he is a 20-point scorer, but he is small for a shooting guard (barely 6'3"), has never played 82 games in a season, and is a quiet guy (so not a vocal team leader). I think the deal that Gallinari got of 4 years/$42 million is probably in the ballpark of what is fair for Gordon. Rumor in LA was he was a 4 year/$60 Million deal. For someone who has never been an All Star that is way too much.

The only question I have in offering a close-to-max is the state of his knees.

I love Eric Gordon.

There are a lot of good point guards in the league now days, but still very few, if any, are worth max deals...

If the Jazz were able to land him then they instantly become a top team in the west. I know that he is slightly injury prone but I think close to the max would be worth it for him.

Thought?

......"thoughts?" Have you lost your MIND??? You want to throw max or near max money at an unproven, injury prone commodity??? I'll bet your body is also covered with jailhouse tats!!!

Good thing he's a 2 guard eh?

Oh and I think we would be instant contenders with Gordon, always been a fan.
He's quick, athletic, explosive, team player, humble, can hit the 3, can create his own shot, and can play decent on the defensive end. Not to mention he is 23 years old.

He's injury prone, but in today's league who isn't? A small handful.

Not saying he is necessarily worth a max contract Right now but his potential, current talent, and young age all suggest he could easily be worth close to a max contract in the future.

Jazz need to at least extend an offer to him (he'll be RFA right?), or pull for a sign and trade with NO if they are allowed to
