What's new

It has begun...

Let's be honest the Jazz desperately want to draft a SF (PG would be ideal, but apparently God decided not to make any in 1993). This draft is loaded with PFs, the last position the Jazz would draft, and if things pan out like Mr. Ford has on this website then I definitely see the Jazz trading their pick. If they get their own lottery pick I could see them packaging both picks (say 9 & 13) to move up to grab either Barnes, MKG (possibly even P. Jones - I could see him playing SF) or if they just get GS's pick I could see them trading back to either pick up Q. Miller (just outside the lottery - according to Mr. Ford here) or a PG.

If the Jazz do get a pick in the lottery I would have to think that they will do whatever necessary to walk away with any of those 4. - My order would be:

1. Barnes (if we didn't lack an outside threat so much I'd go with my #2)
2. MKG - would instantly become a fan favorite - think a 6'7" Earl Watson on steroids
3. Q. Miller - Long, athletic, can shoot
4. P. Jones - lukewarm, but I'd want him over the 10 other PFs in the lottery as I could really see him playing the 3 - even though that wouldn't be his idle position.

Everything I have seen or read about this guys character (has not been alot of material) has pointed to him being the kind of guy the Jazz want. Hard working, good kid. Maybe we can get lucky and land him and work on getting some shooters thru a trade.

That's funny because I've always questioned PJones' effort/intensity.

Both of the Jones' are tweeners and I don't think either can play the SF position except the occassional favorable matchup.
Mine are (in order) Barnes, Miller, MKG. I love MKG, I just can't deny the upside of Miller and the shooting of Barnes.
Like you said, if we had great shooters already, I'd take MKG for his lockdown defense, stat stuffing, and intangibles.

The draft is stacked out to 20, easily. Definitely have to consider Andre Drummond as a top potential guy as well .. even though I think he's been disappointing this year (10/8).

Our own pick could very well be #20+, may be we could take a punt on Marshall/Kobongo, etc? They could turn into a Ty Lawson/Buboise perhaps?

I got the GSW pick as a #9 and the picked Jared Sullinger a PF. If that happens I would be stunned if there is not trade where a big gets moved out. (We'd have Big Al, Millsap, Favors, Kanter, Sullinger and Evans)
Holy ****. Nightmarishly stupid scenario.

It is virtually impossible (unless you think GS has a shot of making the playoffs) that we'll be drafting outside the lottery this year.

I think it is a very real possibility actually. GSW could very well end up with a top 7 so we would lose that pick. If Utah ends up in the playoffs (I think they will) then they are outside of the lottery and it may go to Minny depending on what number it is.

I think you misread Margo's post.
