Nuggets exploring the trade market for a bench upgrade​


When three-time MVP center Nikola Jokic was asked Monday if he thinks the team has everything it needs, as currently constructed, he answered with a firm “yes.” In any case, as the last 48 hours of trade season wind down, the Nuggets are canvassing the league for a rotational upgrade to their bench, multiple league sources told The Denver Post.

Most of Denver’s top-end contracts either cannot or will not (Jokic) be traded this week. Jamal Murray ($36 million salary) and Aaron Gordon ($22.8 million) signed long-term extensions last offseason, resulting in trade restrictions for six months. That leaves Michael Porter Jr. ($35.9 million) as the team’s most valuable asset excluding Jokic — and Michael Malone has attempted to snuff out any talk of a Porter trade. The next-most expensive player eligible to be traded, then, is Zeke Nnaji ($8.9 million), who has spent most of this season out of the rotation.

Is he? Makes so much sense for them imo. Just don't know who wants DDR. Not that he is bad, still a solid player and has a decent contract, but he's always a weird fit anywhere. Maybe the Hawks would want him? Feel like the Hawks should be desperately trying to to add a productive player at a low cost (could give the Jazz Capela) so they don't embarrass themselves giving a high pick to the Spurs

Man, your Collins/Sexton blind spot used to be awkward, but taken this far it's kinda entertaining.

I mean according to you, every other team in the league "could really use" these guys... but at the same time in the real world, there's zero interest. Absolute crickets. Same goes for Clarkson.

(BTW, Ingram would easily be the best player on the Jazz right now.)

But there isn't crickets as NBA insiders have noted to watch Collins, including the most reputable, Brian Windhorst.

This gets MIA out of the tax (and saves a ton on actual player salary), it gives them 3 players to help them win that expire in 26, it gets Jimmy out of there, and it gets them out of this Rozier legal situation. That's got to be worth a decent amount to them right?

IDK what we can do with Butler after that....I'm sure he's bluffing to some extent. Maybe you can extract a first from for a team looking for a rental or maybe you send him home and you do a S&T in the summer or he opts in and you trade him on a one year deal. We could also simply be looking at a lot of cap space if Butler opts out and Rozier gets banned from the NBA.

I would rather do this than nothing and the Heat probably would too. Maybe this could be the fallback for both teams with their respective dangled players.
