Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

Anti-Science is a given with Trump 2.0….Anti-science to the hilt. MAGA celebrates human ignorance. Trump, and so many Americans who support the man, exhibit the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

Staff members at a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have been told this week to stop all contact with foreign nationals, including on international treaties and seafood catch limits, stoking confusion and fear among government scientists as the Trump administration begins to shape its vision for their work.

The orders came from leaders of the National Marine Fisheries Service in all-staff meetings this week, according to multiple staff members, who spoke with The Washington Post on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution from the new administration. And the change has put some agency work — including efforts to set annual quotas on seafood harvests — on hold for the foreseeable future.

At other branches of NOAA, international contact is facing heavy scrutiny, staff members said, raising questions about how easily they could carry out everyday efforts to monitor weather and atmospheric conditions — such as working with other countries to track tsunami risks across the Pacific Ocean, key to ensuring safety along the West Coast. NOAA produces government weather forecasts, conducts long-term climate monitoring and research, and manages the nation’s fisheries and marine mammals.

At NOAA Research, an office focused on foundational earth science, an email sent to staff Wednesday and reviewed by The Post said they would now need to submit any “international engagement” for approval, including travel, face-to-face meetings or gatherings of international organizations. As for whether that includes emails with colleagues of different nationalities, the guidance said: “Not at this time.”

Some details about the new orders to NOAA staff were first reported by WIRED on Wednesday, including that the ban on foreign communication also applied to an agency branch that oversees satellite-collected environmental data.

The turmoil has created an atmosphere of fear and confusion across the agency of 13,000 employees. At all-hands meetings convened in NOAA offices across the country this week, staffers raised questions about whether the integrity of NOAA science is at risk.

There have been few clear answers.
They should learn to code.

Elon Musk, the richest man in the world and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), suggested that The Wall Street Journal reporter responsible for uncovering a DOGE employee’s racist tweets should be fired on Friday.

In a story published on Thursday, the Journal‘s Katherine Long revealed that a “key DOGE staff member who gained access to the Treasury Department’s central-payments system resigned Thursday after he was linked to a deleted social-media account that advocated racism and eugenics.”

From Long’s report:

Marko Elez, a 25-year-old who is part of a cadre of Elon Musk lieutenants deployed by the Department of Government Efficiency to scrutinize federal spending, resigned after The Wall Street Journal asked the White House about his connection to the account.

“Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool,” the account posted in July, according to the Journal’s review of archived posts.

“You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,” the account wrote on X in September. “Normalize Indian hate,” the account wrote the same month, in reference to a post noting the prevalence of people from India in Silicon Valley.

After the Journal inquired about the account, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said that Elez had resigned from his role.
Now that Elez has been removed from his post at DOGE, Musk appears to be on a mission to punish Long for discovering his foul views.

Replying to a tweet pointing out that Long had once been the author of a piece headlined “The Videogame Industry Still Needs to Reckon with Its Lack of Diversity,” the billionaire asserted that “She’s a disgusting and cruel person.”

Another page straight from the Nazi playbook, control the media with threats and then later with outright violence. Musk is well on his way to becoming Hitler 2.0

Maybe you are just being funny, but just in case you didn't know, Barrel is unit of measure. 1 Barrel = 31.5 Gallons.
Not in terms of flow in natural water ways however. When measuring an amount of water flow in a natural water way you use a term like CFS (cubic feet per second)

But lets humor trump for a minute. So 1 barrel = 31.5 gallons. Millions and millions (we will go conservative here and just say 2 million) would be 63 million. So 63 million gallons of water is flowing from where to where exactly by what water way? Also according to google a barrel has a range from 31.5 to 42 gallons for liquids.
Googles also gave me this answer when asked "how many gallons in a barrel of water?": A "barrel" of water is typically considered to be 42 gallons in the United States, as this is the standard measurement used in the oil industry, where "barrel" is most commonly used; meaning a barrel of water is equivalent to 42 gallons. Maybe you were just being funny I guess.

Maybe he was thinking that millions and millions of barrels of oil (oil industry uses barrels for units of measurement) were flowing from somewhere north to somewhere south. Who knows? Dude is an idiot.

In actuality he had no idea what a barrel of water is or how much water is in a barrel and was just using the word for the hell of it. He is an idiot.

It really does boil down to just how uneducated/uninformed Trump is. He talks confidently about things he doesn't know.

That is a quality that I hate in any person I see it in.

ROFL Giving away the game a bit, aren't you? Musk is trying to shut down whole divisions, and you say that is "targeting liberal programs". If an entire division is a "liberal program", that is a problem and it should be shut down.

Just looking for fairness. If we’re going to **** over poor people, at least do it equitably.

Ya he has to speak on anything and everything it would be better if he stayed in his own lane a bit and let experts in their respective fields handle some of the talking points.

This is an appropriate place to post this again.....

63 million gallons was a good guess, but the actual number was over 2.2 billion gallons. The water came from reservoirs Kaweah and Success. Carry on.

I was actually proud of trump today when I saw a reporter ask him if he had any comment on the time magazine cover photo of Elon Musk sitting at trumps presidential desk and he simply answered "no"
I knew he could actually shut up. Just had to be asked the right question.
He did look pretty sad though.

They should learn to code.

They will find other jobs. While insufferable, they are damn good at complicated work that requires technical skill, patience, and passion. This is a massive brain drain for the federal government. People get MPA’s, MPP’s, all kinds of advanced degrees to work in government. Not to mention the engineers and tradesmen. All are sweating it right now.

Speaking of coding, how are all your coal mining best friends doing? Trump sure has their back doing absolutely jack **** for their future. Good job?

For all the noise, this is nothing but an audit. DOGE is nothing more than an independent auditing firm. They don't fire government works or shut down anything. They look at data, report findings, and make recommendations. They are auditors, and they will look at everything they have access to. right leaning, left leaning, whatever. Give them access and they'll audit it.

All of this outrage over Elon Musk being this or doing that, only shows how bad everyone involved knows things are. They are hand-waving as furiously as they can to take attention away from what they know the auditors will find. It did not escape my notice that you voiced your support for the books being audited. I applaud that and join you sentiment that I hope they look at everything equally.

I love when it is obvious Trump just had something explained to him that he previously knew nothing about and then he goes before the press and says "I know more about that than anybody... and a lot of people don't understand it." He thinks people don't understand it because he doesn't understand it, even though most people are familiar with the subject.
