What's new

Game Thread: Utah Jazz @ NY Knicks 2/6/12, 5:30 MST

#1 We had 13 AT THE HALF, which fueled their offense. You can't dig yourself a 15 point deficit on the road. They ended up with 17 turnovers. But that was mostly due to one horrible quarter. The other 3 quarters they had very limited turnovers.

We ended up with 20 turnovers and 43 % shooting. You aren't going to beat anyone playing like that.

#2 Define "all the time" please. Stockton and Malone could drop a game on the road. Sure. No one is perfect. But they generally did not underachieve on the road. This Jazz team does. The jazz of this decade has been notorious for being able to beat anyone at home (like the Lakers) and losing to anyone on the road (tpuppies, New York (remember Steph Marbury and Nate Robinson tearing us new ones?), and Golden St).

Hey, you said the Knicks didn't turn it over. I pointed out that they did.

I watched the Jazz from the year Malone was drafted. Go back and look at their road record until about 96. They rarely had a winning record on the road. I can still remember a lot of stinkers. I remember once, when I was in college, watching the jazz play a pathetic Clippers team, and needing a win to stay in contention for a top seed. Late in the season. They sucked so bad and lost so pathetically with no effort. I was so mad and screaming, that a girl who came over to visit ran out of the apt in terror claiming that I was a nutcase.

Also, I thought 2 of Jeffries' charges were bogus calls. One at the start against Harris and one against Hayward.

Folks, I think the Millsap mid-season fade is in full force. He does this every year. I don't know the reason for it, but it has happened every year since his second year in the league. He starts off the season going gang-busters, and then his game just disappears.

Geee, no over the back call before that three, and then another charge on an obvious block.

But it's all Al's fault. Can't blame the refs.

Damn why dont you cry harder bro.

I have been at work and missed the game so got home and read the game thread all at once. Craig i dont usually have a problem with your posts but you should go back and read this game thread all at once and you will see what i mean. Every post sounds like a whine.

Millsap and Jefferson were both pretty bad. Considering we have not one reliable three point shooter, that means game over.
atleast sap DID hustle
did play defense
and did get a GAME HIGH 13 rebounds(2nd higest is 8)
jefferson got 4 frickin rebounds in 35 minutes.

never thought i would say this but time to get bozoer back. atleast bozoe hustled for a rebound ;)

Numbers don't lie folks. You keep calling Jefferson the black hole, but he had 3 assists tonight.

Millsap had one.

I could list the rest of the stats, but you can look them up.

I would buy some of your crap if you were consistent, but you aren't. No matter what Jefferson and Millsap do, you all love Paul, and hate Al.

Who said Paul played well tonight? Quit changing the subject.

Black Hole plays horrible D and slows the offense down considerably.

He doesn't rebound either...... Plain and simple. At one point we cut it to 5 I believe and a simple box out we get the rebound. Instead he doesn't and they get two extra chances an take it back to 7. That consistently happens to the hole.

I think it's a combination of him falling in love with his jump-shot, and him getting to tired to bang down low. I like that this year he has upped his defensive game, but there wasn't really anyone to defend tonight. Just perimeter plays to cover, which is going to be really hard for any of our bigs.

You could make an argument Jefferson actually had to boxout his man most of the time, where Millsap's guy was usually lurking at the 3 point line, allowing him to get easy unchallenged rebounds.

Not arguing Jefferson didn't rebound like crap, but I think that is at least a factor in the huge disparity.

I can't stand players like Jefferies and Kurt Thomas. All they do is try to draw charges and flop all game long, and it just kills the flow of the game.

Also, I thought 2 of Jeffries' charges were bogus calls. One at the start against Harris and one against Hayward.

How about the foul they called on Kanter. He has the ball at the top of the key being hounded, then he turns and they call and offensive foul as the knick player flops> I don't even think there was any contact, and that was when the game was still close but the knicks were starting to pull ahead.

That is how refs can do it. Just call some bad calls like that to screw a team as the other team is making a run. Give them a helpful push.

If you read the book by the gambling ref, he explains in detail how Bavetta is the best at doing that.

I think Watson / BigAl seem only 75% to me. That is a factor as well.

I will be in Indy tomorrow nite to see Jazz, hoping to see Tinsley play instead of Harris......wishful thinking.
