You all might think this is ridiculous, but a significant part of me has a hunch that Ace is tanking his draft stock because he has a promise from a team later than 3 in the lottery.

“I want to go to a team where I can shoot a lot and be the primary guy offensively” is not a statement you say to endear yourself to a team.

What if, contrary to collective wisdom, the team that made the promise is the Jazz?

Ace has to know he’s going top 7. I think the Nets at 8 are a possibility, but that’s a very long slide for him.

The only GMs I think who are ruthless and Machiavellian enough to do this are Morey and Ainge, and Morey could just grab him at 3 - no need for the play.

In Charlotte he wouldn’t be the man. In Utah or Washington, he could be.
