Are the Jazz a great PG away from serious contention?

Look at the past two games. Both were winnable until we finally crapped out in the fourth. We seem to be pretty solid at all positions other than point guard. We simply got killed the past two games by the other team's point guard. If we simply had a PG that could contain and score against the other team's PG we likely win. The same can be said against the Clippers and Warriors. Should we consider trading Harris and either Millsap or Jefferson (opening up a spot for Jeremy Evans) to acquire a great point guard?

This thread is an easy target to bash. So don't get upset with possible responds. (not mentioning carolinajazz, he ain't bad, he doesn't even have any tattoo to be bad)

And about your question... Of course no one will give us a great pg like a free candy. But If we're into take some bad contracts and give more than what we would be willing to give, we may get what we want. And Rondo as in example, could be the best target if we're really up to make major moves. And yes, that kind of move has the potential to make us a contender.

Wasn't that one of the gripes that DWill had last year? I seem to remember that he complained about the PnR D.

So if the Fakers ends up with a pg(especially Rondo) which we can have a chance to get too, then I would get soo mad and do very bad things to my Fakers-fan friends.

I know everyone wants Rondo but you have to ask yourself why are the Celtics constantly trying to get rid of him? The reason is he is a pain in the butt to deal with. Just think how bad he could be with an inexperience coach and a young team. The Celtics are willing to look at the Celtics trade because they feel that their backup PG (Avery Bradley) isn't that far removed (talent-wise). The Celtics need another big man. I doubt they trade Rondo because the Celtics could pick up Kaman instead of trading for Gasol.

However, I do think the Celtics would trade Rondo if the right deal was presented. As far as the Jazz, I think they are more than a PG away from really contending. They need both Favors and Kanter to take major steps on the offensive end. I think Hayward has to be more consistent and aggressive. The Jazz need a stud SF. Alec Burks needs to start playing and develop into the player I think he is. The Jazz need two shooters who can shoot the 3 pt. and also create their own shot when the offense breaks down. Lastly, the Jazz need time to gain experience.

The only way this is going to happen is to start developing the young guys more, draft well and then find the missing piece in FA. I think the Jazz need to concentrate on their defensive mentality. If they can become a great defensive team the offensive issues won't be so obvious. With Favors, Hayward and Kanter they have a good start. Now get MKG or Quincy Miller or Barnes and a stud PG (distributor first). Then find some shooters in FA.

Jimmer. No question. And I'm not even a huge fan of Jimmer as a pro. But at least he provides some shooting. I've seen enough out of control drives and airballs from Harris (not to mention clanked FTs). Dude doesn't have range outside of a layup and rarely gets to the rim anymore. Defensively, they're probably equally pathetic. Both probably aren't true PGs, but I'm willing to give Jimmer a chance. I've seen Harris attempt to run the Jazz offense... And it's bad... What's he averaging again? 3 assists? Seriously folks? Stockton and Dwill had that within the first 5 mins of a game. Ronnie Price could get us 3 assists in a damn half!

Maybe I'm just a little extreme. But I'm really down on Harris. I don't think he has it anymore. He's lost his passion for the game and hasn't been an effective PG for the Jazz in 2 years now. Getting anything at this point for him is key. We all knew that the real prize in the Dwill trade was the talented youth, NOT Harris.
