Collin Sexton traded to Charlotte Hornets for Jusuf Nurkic

On can reasonably conclude the the Jazz FO aren’t complete idiots. They’ve been trying to move Sexton for a while. Thus, it’s reasonable to conclude that this was the market for a player like Sexton on a team like the Jazz where everybody knows they practically have to get rid of Sexton. So, sure, it really isn’t a good deal. It’s also not as bad as people are making it look, and I doubt Utah could have done better or they would have.
Good post

We had to hold him out to lose games. Yeah, he can help a team.

I hear this a lot, but the people saying it always fail to explain why all the other NBA teams with their highly paid player evaluation pros seem to disagree. Sexton is cheap, and he's been available for several years... yet, crickets.

Maybe Ainge Sr couldn't stomach the thought of sending a pick with him. As was pointed out in this thread, trying to "win" every trade is his major weakness.

AA traded Sexton because WCJ is gonna dominate the league and he needs minutes...;)
I doubt he ever puts up better numbers than sexton did but oh well.
Whatever.
I have vented and moved on to acceptance.

All I know is that the Jazz can’t have Sexton, Collins and Clarkson on the roster if they want a top pick in 2026.

I honestly don’t care that much HOW they accomplish this, but I’d prefer they add a couple of okay assets in the process.

I choose to believe this is part two of the secret trade up with Charlotte allowing the Jazz to pick Ace.

I know AA wants his own guys to get minutes but the Nurkic I saw in Phoenix last season was unplayable.

It's unfortunate but Ainge just got himself in a bad situation trying to do a total rebuild with too many vet players on contract.
