What's new

Post the 5 man lineup you’re most excited to see next season

There has been a noticeable difference from an offensive flow and feel when Conley was running the offense or when Collier was on the court with Lauri/Collins.

This is all subjective, since this is thread is about "what you are excited to see." So if you think it's fine, it's all good.

I guess I'm just worried in general about our lack of passing/ play making. I think we took a team that was already bad and added two very poor for their position players in the draft.
Its fine AT THIS POINT.

I dont think its fine in the long run, but I also dont think we have great passing/playmaking options. Collier is better in that regard but he doesnt have gravity like WCJ.

Besides if I'm Jazz I wanna push more passing and playmaking out WCJ, Ace and Lauri as I think that is a top 2 development priority for all 3 of them.

Fun fact. We’re not there in the timeline yet.

Also, we’re ABSOLUTELY tanking - just now we’re doing it with “tanktastic” players like Jusuf Nurkic and Svi Mykhailiuk.
ABSOLUTELY huh? So you’re calling Austin Ainge a liar?

No offense but I think I’ll go with AA on this one “Coach”.

To be fair, the question and the AA answer was about affecting win/loss record through manipulating minutes and injuries. So he didnt say he wouldnt tank nor has he said anything about (not) trying to build a competitive roster for next season. He just said he wont do dirty tricks.

I think youth movement is perfectly fair and AA seems invested in overhauling the roster. It remains to be seen who are "his guys"... and maybe they surprise and keep someone like John Collins because AA just likes him. At this point we just dont know.

Manipulating minutes and injury status is tanking by definition. Are you suggesting that he’s he’s intentionally interested in putting together a non competitive roster? And what purpose would that serve exactly? And keeping Collins because maybe he just likes him? Disappointing!

Spin it however you want, but it’s really not that complicated!

Yes Ainge lied.

The obvious answer to your first question is yes.
The obvious answer to your second question is to increase the odds of getting a better draft pick.

He is not doing Process Sixers here, but Sexton to Nurkic is a clear move that makes the roster worse.

Sexton was our b3st guard by a country mile.

Yes but the trade wasn’t made explicitly to make us a worse team. The trade was made because Sexton, Markkanen and Bailey are all high volume shot takers and couldn’t possibly exist together on a viable starting unit. If we want to really develop Bailey to his perceived potential, that means giving him, not a Six foot nothing shoot first PG more shots.

It was the right play, but unfortunately one of the consequences of conspicuous and protracted tanking is the diminution of your players perceived value. The same could be said for Clarkson who I’m sure we also envisioned getting us more in liquidation. Obviously, we are not going to compete for a title this season and our emphasis has always got to be developing our young players for our window as it becomes available.

It most definitely is not.

The underrating of Nurk and overrating of Sexton is getting totally crazy.

He had to go because other guys need his minutes. It's just that simple. He wasn't any kind of a difference maker.
