PICK TEAM PLAYER VITALS

Utah (via Warriors)

Damian Lillard
Position: PG
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 185 pounds
Age: 21
School: Weber State

Analysis: The Jazz have talented young players at every position except point guard. Enes Kanter is the center of the future, Derrick Favors is set to take over at power forward, Gordon Hayward is already doing his thing at small forward, and the team is high on Alec Burks at the 2.

Enter Lillard. While the Jazz won't just draft to fill a position, Lillard is as talented as anyone in this range. He's more of a scorer than a pure point guard, but his ability to hit jump shots and get his teammates involved will be alluring to the Jazz.

Utah

Jeremy Lamb
Position: SG
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 185 pounds
Age: 19
School: UConn

Analysis: Lamb has elite talent, but his laid-back demeanor has given some scouts pause. Higher in the draft, he's a bit of a risk. But down here he's a good bargain for the Jazz as they continue to rebuild their backcourt.

I just want to throw out that this mock has James McAdoo and Cody Zeller going top ten, so it may not be very reliable because I doubt either of those guys declare.

I played the ESPN mock lotto for long enough to get Utah's pick at 3 (Kidd-Gilchrist) and our other pick at 9 (Damian Lillard). How awesome would that draft be?

why are we still talking about GS pick? whats the point?

I'll never give up faith on the Eastern Conference sucking more than the bottom teams out West. Although yeah, it's looking kind of pointless at this point.

i just dont understand this deal,,can someone inlight me? whats the ****in point of making this kind of deal? why does it have to be top 7 protected from first place? i really dont know, can someone please explain this?

A draft of Lillard and Lamb would be sick. Lamb is a very small gamble with a potentially huge pay off. I'd say he's definitely more talented than Gordo and Burks and if he developed that talent and is there mentally as well we'd have a home run. If he doesn't pan out we still have Gordo/Burks as the future wings which is still plenty to be excited about.

Looking at the standings I see every team below them staying below them. Cleveland is the wildcard but they are also starting to tank.

Top 6. But don't worry, if Curry and Bogut play half of the season's games together, the Jazz will very safely be getting that pick.

wait,so if they are not in worst 7 this year,we still can use that pick on 2013,and ofcourse that will be top 6 protected,am i understanding correct?

According to nbadraft.net its top 7 protected in 2012 and 2013 then top 6 protected in 2014.

If the Warriors get a 7th pick or below, the Jazz don't get it.

Also- if the Jazz make the playoffs, the TWolves get the Jazz's pick.

Things don't have to be this way. But teams trade things they have (or will have) to get other things they want. Putting protection on the pick gives a better idea the value of the pick and protects the team trading it in case something crazy happens.
