Dad beats another man to death with fists.

I pity any fool who attempts this on my either of my daughters. It wouldn't be a "1 beating and you're done" type thing. About 2 years of daily severe beatings. The dude would wish he'd never been born.
 
Sheriff's deputies in Texas won't file charges against a father who they say beat an acquaintance to death after allegedly catching him sexually abusing the man's 4-year-old daughter.

"You have a right to defend your daughter," he told CNN. "[The girl's father] acted in defense of his third person. Once the investigation is completed we will submit it to the district attorney who then submits it to the grand jury, who will decide if they will indict him."

I think that is his only line of defense. He may have a right to defend his daughter; however, the amount of force allowed in defending his daughter is probably similar to protecting your self. I don't think the use of deadly force is necessary when defending yourself from an unarmed perpetrator.

I can see the father becoming mentally incapacitated for a short period.
