What is the least you would take for Big Al?

Pretend that you are Jazz GM for a day and you have till the end of the day to trade Big Al. If 24 hrs passes and you haven't made a trade, Al stays on the team for the rest of the year.

So with these rules, whats the LEAST you would accept for Al (in general terms) before you would just say F it were keeping him.

I eagerly await your replies and fully expect atleast 70% of you to have a really hard time understanding the concept of this thread.

Good topic. KOC has to get something out of him. Al has value around the league, just not for Utah.

I think either a future lottery pick or a better fitting player is appropriate to start the valuation. I don't doubt at all that a lot of JF posters will place Al's value at zero or below.

So if we couldn't get a future lottery pick or a decent player, you would keep him?

It's not that I think Al is inherently bad, but to the Jazz I think he does have negative value just for the fact that he is blocking Favors development.

1st round this year.
Lottery next year.
Trade for a slightly above average SF.

any of those.

This surprises me.

So if it came down to the wire and the best offer was 2 second rounders, you would say no and keep Al the rest of the season?

I agree that he has to be moved. It will be up to the GM to get what he can out of AJ. But I don't agree that just because a guy has to go means you take the first popsicle offered.

EDIT: Most realistic trade for me = late first round draft pick (around 15-20). I think he's worth more than that to other teams though.
Looking around at the 76ers forum and they would've been fine with getting him for Iguadola and they valued him a ton more than I though even though his defense is lacking.

Here's a really interesting scenario though (hypothetical):
Trade Al for a lotto pick next year or the year after.
Combine that with the GS lotto pick.
Trade ~6th pick (2013 or 2014) + ~10th pick (2013 or 2014) for a top 3 pick. So we could be a contending team and at the same time, add the talent of a Charlotte team without the Charlotte scouting. In fact, I think we might be able to get a high level PG with that top pick.

It's not that I want Al .. it's that you have to perceive a value and there are cases to be made to just let him expire if you can't get your minimum value. Honestly, I would have to give it some thought about getting 2 picks in the 30's in this year's draft .. but not sure I'd do it, to be honest.

Ok maybe closer to 90%, unless this is really the LEAST you all would take in a Big Al trade.

Am I the only one that will dread this upcoming season if Al and Millsap are still starting?

Just to reiterate, this isn't a what you hope to get for Al thread. It's what is the absolute least you would take for him before you decided to keep him on the team for the rest of the year.

ahhh, nevermind.

So shall we keep asking for less until we understand your thread?
