I wonder if the Utes position will change now that the Pac-12 and Big-10 scheduling-partner-thing blew up?
Not that I agree with your stupidity, but 15 years is a "blip"? And you're so amazed by your BCS nonsense that you fail to realize that your mighty milestones (/chortle) are far from impressive. The BCS has only been around for 14 years, if anything, your chest thumping and vocal coitus of the BCS is the real "blip" here. Just like any sport, "records" will be set in the beginning, but then will be beaten and broken by real teams and real athletes as time goes on. History and tradition look at things like winning championships, both in the conference and in the nation. Our tradition is full of them. Yours...? You've got a sweet 3rd place trophy to hang your "participation ribbons" on. Hooray for you guys.
But seriously, keep rockin' the PUD12 stickers and pride, it's reeeeaaaalllly cool.
The last decade, Utah has continually made history.
Let's look at the "rivalry." The first 50 years (1922-1972) Utah's record was 41-8-4. Complete domination by Utah.
Then came LaVell. For the next 20 years (1972-1992) BYU completely dominated, going 19-2.
Then comes the last 19 years. In that time frame, Utah is 12-7, including 7 out of the last 10. The more this goes on, the more it looks like this hasn't been much of a rivalry, but more of a LaVell aberration. The reason why it has become "The Holy War" is not due to overall record, but BYU fan's actions during their blip on the radar. Well, what goes around comes around.
So, recap. Overall, Utah is 55-34, with Utah winning 62% of the time. If we take out the LaVell era, Utah has a 78% winning percentage. If we look at the last decade, Utah has 70% winning percentage against BYU with multiple blowouts, and BYU's only wins coming by a combined 12 pts (or 4 pts a win). Huh, the more and more this goes on, it looks like this isn't much of a rivalry, but a period of time where BYU had a great coach and Utah was down.
I just feel bad for BYU fan that caught Utah at a down time, built their lives around the fact that God loves BYU, therefore BYU beats Utah (who mysteriously pours beer on all BYU fans) because Utah isn't BYU. The more time goes on, they were just born at a lucky time, more than BYU is some national power.

But not Utah.Yup, you won a NC. Fantastic. Very impressive, though you did do it without playing a single ranked team. Congrats. That was almost THIRTY YEARS AGO. Good for you. Did you also realize that Yale, Princeton, Harvard, Cornell, Army, Arizona State, SMU, etc, all won national championships last century as well?
But not Utah.
Amen. The beginning of the middle third of the LAST CENTURY Utah struggled. Since? Success.
You enjoy the late 80's (does anyone remember those days?), I'll enjoy the now, especially 9:06 every day. Ahhhhhh.

Ya, I got it the first time. I'm not sure what you're trying to point out or prove, unless you're trying to tell me that I was spot on. The BCS is relatively still a baby, and the Utes are taking advantage of getting those first "records" or "accomplishments" out of the way. I don't care and it doesn't matter if it was in the last decade or the last 14 years. As you so succinctly put it:Typical BYU fan and their reading comprehension. First, re-read my post:
Your first point, irrelevant.
Do you need a refresher course in what "history" and/or "tradition" means? Judas, I feel like I'm trying to have an adult conversation with my brothers six year old. Notice what those other schools also have that Utah doesn't, and probably never will? A storied past, rich history, and world renowned traditions. Utah is just some punk *** bitch riding the coat tails of the big kid on the block, and gets the respect it deserves -- which of course, is very little. Keep on thumping your chest, little brother, because as always happens to punk *** bitches, your days in the sun will come crashing down around you and you'll have nothing but your bronze trophy and numerous participation ribbons to remind you of what could've been. Meanwhile the BYU's, Harvard's, Princeton's, Yale's, and Army's of the world will keep on doing what is right on and off the field, while furthering their respective traditions and histories.Yup, you won a NC. My heart smiles a little to know that while you think you're the big dog of the state, you'll always be third best.

I don't care if you win the next 100 games by a combined score of 50,000 to 0. Little bro will always be little bro. It's just how it is. Accept it and glory in your small successes here and there.

Keep on thumping your chest,
Math will not save you lil bro. That would make my smack, 65-34, 17 out of 20, 13 out of 14, 500-0...if you were meaning the next 100 games Utah plays. If not...
155-34, 107 out of 110, 103-104, 500-0.
Either way, sucks for you. But, you will still, as Trout so eloquently put it:
about your 1984 National Championship...which will be impressive, but seeing you we went 100-0 with an average score of 500-0, I would say Utah would have won at least 6-8 national championships....sucks even more for you.
Sorry.
At least we've had some in the last 25 years.I don't care if you win the next 100 games by a combined score of 50,000 to 0. Little bro will always be little bro. It's just how it is. Accept it and glory in your small successes here and there.
And no, lame duck no. 1 rankings don't count.
