Ty Must Go

My reasoning is like Dennis Rodman on Trump's show. Dennis' team lost the contest and he was the project manager so sorry. I think it is Ty's overall body of work here and the close losses and his toxic relationship with Raja. Here you have a veteran who knows every trick in the book and wouldn't it have been nice to have had a wily vet on the floor last night to pull some strange stuff and get away with it. Sorry too many close losses which translates to Xs and Ox and backup point guards that would not make all DLeague at this point in their careers. Bye Ty, enjoy that management training job at Wendy's.

Your post lost credibility at this point. Even with Burks injured, people would be mad about Braille playing. He'd be stealing minutes from Hayward.

Yeah. Raja sucks. Ty needs to go, but benching raja was one thing I respect Ty for.

But the way it was done cost any value they could have gotten for him. If they kissed and made up, the Jazz probably win a couple of more games, slide into the playoffs and Junior Miller gets a decent payday for hosting at least a couple of playoff games. Looking back, why didn't management match for Wesley Matthews?

Corbin benched all the crap we had last year, with the exception of Josh Howard (no choice).

What else has Ty done that's been so bad?
Playing Foye a few too many minutes in certain stretches?
Playing Big Al possibly a few too many minutes in crunch time?

That's probably it really.

If Sloan was still on the sidelines, you'd still hear these "scapegoat pointers" on jazzfanz.

I have to agree with nightmare. I had my pitchfork out, and a couple of torches, but then I read that line and put it all back in the shed.

Locke did make a good point that Scotty Brooks (coach of OKC) indicated that if Corbin would have benched/cut the minutes of Sap and Jefferson, it would have disengaged the vets and there would be no way we'd be making the playoffs

There was definitely a choice to bench Josh Howard. His name was Alec Burks. Big Al gets too many minutes over Favors and Enes. Foye gets too many minutes over Hayward and Burks. Those are the problems I see with Ty right now. Seriously, there is no reason that he should ever play Josh Howard, Randy Foye, Raja Bell or Marvin Williams more minutes than Gordon Hayward, and Burks. Maybe Marv deserved a chance at the beginning of this season, but starting over Hayward? The reasons you list are exactly the reasons Ty is a bad coach. If Jerry was here, and we were not developing lottery talent, I would be criticizing him as well.

The development of our lottery talent should be the number one objective of this team.

cut them just a couple minutes more? If they are playing with a quality big like Favors, who covers their defensive liabilities, then there is no reason they would not look better and get a bigger contract. Favors should be getting equal minutes with them.

Lets not bring Burks into this, because he made way to many mistakes last year to be in the lineup of a team pushing for the playoffs. Howard was the safe choice for a young coach.
Kanter and Favors have gotten plenty of chances this year, and have definitely played well.

At the same time, those chances have come mostly against second tier players.

Hayward was brought off the bench because he helped get the bench players going.
It had nothing to do with the Marv over Hayward discussion.

Corbin is doing exactly what he's been asked to do as a head coach.
Keep a rebuilding squad competitive, while at the same time keeping your vets happy enough to play sufficiently.

Howard made more mistakes than burks and burks was the one In the lineup when we made our run at the end of the year to get into the playoffs..... then in the playoffs burks went back to the bench and howard started for us again and look what happened.... blow out after blowout and a sweep.
And we gave that playoff experience tk howard unstead of burks all so howard could not even be on the team this year

Except Burks was a useless chucker last year who couldn't play within the offense or make good defensive adjustments. He would have never grown had Ty not benched him for so long.

Agreed.

Burks wasn't even passing the ball last year.
Everytime he recieved a pass, he was immediately trying to make a shot.

However, the jazz played thier best bball of the season when bell, howard, and cj were out and burks was getting a good amount of minutes.
Fast forward to the playoffs and no burks+lots of josh howard=*** whoopins and a sweep.
Plus like I said, we had an opportunity to get burks some playoff experience and instead chose to give that experience to howard.
Boy oh boy how that playoff experience going to howard is paying off for us currently!

It will result in us getting a lottery pick for missing the playoffs.

What are you talking about?
Playing josh howard last year in the playoffs did not get us a lottery pick

Your post is laughable. Shall I list the 101 things Corbin has screwed up. That would just take too much of my time. Just go back and read some of the threads I and many others have written about the faux pas of Corbin.

He may be a nice guy but he is not a good coach.

After 2 1/2 years it's clear to me that at this stage in his career Ty isn't a coach who will get more out of the collective sum of the parts, and has shown he's capable of generating less due to bizarre lineups and late-game coaching adjustments/non-adjustments. He deserves some credit for Utah's ability to regroup enough to feast on a relatively easy late-season schedule after many players appeared to check-out in late-March (you could also argue part of the down-stretch was his own doing as well but the team hasn't permeantly quit on Ty this season).

I don't think he'll be fired during the offseason - so the best option remains Ty learns how to be at the very least an average NBA head coach who is capable of putting his best players on the floor in positions to succeed, is capable of adjusting in the 2nd-half of games, can put together fundamentally sound teams that don't make careless late-game mistakes, and doesn't automatically play more experienced players over younger ones if there is a significant talent discrpency.

Not benching raja before the injury forced him to.
Playing watson over tinsley last year.
Playing watson and tinsley over burks this year.
Playing marvin too many minutes and playing him more than demarre and burks.
Plus all the ones you yourself mentioned ( playing al and foye too much, playing josh howard too much.)
Those are just the bad personnel decisions he has made.... then there is a whole other list of in game decision making screw ups
