My first thread... Hello Everyone!

Wesley Matthews - 20 pts in 20 minutes
Kyle Korver - 22 pts in 28 minutes

not bad... without trying to devalue Sloan's system, but this is still more than fortunate coincidence. I really didn't expect these players to be so good after leaving Utah.

Korver's point totals will probably rise this year because he'll be consistently shooting the three-point shot rather than off the 16-18 foot curl. His percentages will go down.

You are citing a scrimmage for Matthews?!?! Also, one might expect him to get better in his second NBA season.

In the end, you are totally jumping the gun here.

Just wanted to point out that Korver only shot 1 Three Point shot in that game. He was 7-12 from the field and 7-7 from the FT line. Even with all those points he scored he was still -11 on the semi useless +/- stat.

As for Wesley he was 4-9 from the field and 3 of 8 from the 3 and 9-10 from the FT line.

I'm aware of the stats. I was speaking generally, since I was assuming Air Wolf was massaging these results for signs of their future success. I'll stand behind my general statement of Korver's role and the unsurprising idea that Matthews would be better in his second season (provided he is able to get off the bench for significant minutes).

Are you seriously calling a performance of scoring 20 points or above by a role player - even if it was a preseason game - as an expected improvement? I'm really curious how this will develop. And I hope, too, that tomorrow the Jazz have an answer to Matthews ;)

No. First and foremost, I was challenging your citation of a scrimmage. Next, I said that if he improves this year it can't be said to be solely the cause of a new system. Simple. clean. Get excited about it if you want... I'm not going to stop you.

Remember when Ronnie Brewer looked like an All-Star in the pre-season in his second season? Calm down.

20 points in 20 minutes is impressive on any NBA court. But I suspect that Matthews is playing at full speed and everyone else is at preseason speed.

On Korver we knew he could score when he got an open look. Nothing has changed and nothing is surprising about that.

It's time to move on.

Wesley Matthews is not walking through that door.

Kyle Korver is not walking through that door.

Carlos Boozer is not tripping through that door.

And we didn't expect that there were Utah Jazz fans in Hungary Mr. Keyser Soze :))

Just kidding, welcoıme to the boards first of all. I don't understand why those stats make you think we underutilised them as Korver had plenty of games where he scored 22 or more in similar minutes. Wesley's personal best with us was 29 points and that's in a NBA game not just some preseason junk.
