What's new

What's important in the media today?

I don't have time to watch all these TV experts to know what I am supposed to be scared or angry about every day, but I would like to not miss anything important, so please keep us posted when they are yelling or crying or frightened about something. I don't need the details, just the heads up. Thanks in advance.

What's your problem man? There are hundreds of TV shows, plus radio, blogs, magazines, papers, books, websites, etc. I can't cover all of them myself, but I like to stay on top of what is on the radar as best I can. You don't have to participate if you don't want to.

The climate is changing, resulting in more extreme weather around the globe.

I missed that then. All I am seeing is talk about IRS, Benghazi, Syria, Health Care Law. A couple weeks ago it was all about gun control. I know the middle of the country had some tornados deaths this week.

Faried Z on CNN was just saying that the US should help China get US fracking technology so they can decrease coal use and help with global warning and pollution. (an idea from NYT)

Personally, I'm on the detoxing from the whole news cycle train currently. I'll still read a half hour or so a day just to keep up with things generally, but there is just so much garbage in all media, mainstream and alternative, that it's not even worth anyone's time beyond acknowledging that things happen and having quick thoughts about it and thinking of potential ramifications. And then maybe getting a clearer picture of things over time as issues develop. It's really a bore now to want to dissect everything instantly to me. If humans have one big failure that is on record for every aspect of life, it's trying to play the role of futurist.

yo, heads up!

the talking heads are still talking, that's what's happening in media these days

not sure if they're still singing though, anybody know if they're still around? haven't had a hit in a while, have they?

So the thread title should be changed?

To: "Hey guys, I watch the news all the time. Let me know if you'd like to be updated by what I see by coming to this thread. Until then, I'll just report here."

No, I watched 30 minutes of CNN/MSNBC this morning, just so I'd have something to put on here, while I'm waiting for your lazy azz to contribute something useful, so quit your complaining biatch.

I am with you totally. I want to keep informed, but I don't want to spend all my time doing it. It'd be useful to have a cliff notes version of what the all the media are getting hyped up about on a day to day basis. I didn't really expect it to work, but I figured it was worth a try.

I pay for cable for one reason and one reason only... Jazz Games. I refuse to watch any of the ******** that gets force fed down everyone's throats. Especially the news. What a crock.
