What's new

Thomas Robinson is available again - Anybody interested?

They don't want cap space. He is worth a 2nd round pick. Plus let him develop with malone, favors, and kanter. Hes worth the gamble.

I would strongly consider Robinson for the 21st pick. I would rather pay $3.6 million to a guy like Thomas Robinson than Elton Brand or Jason Maxiell who Ty would almost assuredly play in front of Derrick or Enes. I don't think anyone that will still be available at 21 has more potential than TR.

I've never really understood why Robinson has been perceived as a tremendous talent. Seeing that two teams in one year don't at all care for him should be a huge red flag to everyone.

Like in many situations, if the cost is cheap, then sure. But I'm not sure I'd even give 21.

I know. I'm crazy.

I'd take Robinson for cash + 21st + 2nd round. He's the ****ing 5th pick in last year's draft. He's got crazy athleticsm. There's gotta be something out of the surface on this guy (marijuana maybe? attitude?) because he's top talent.

He does not have crazy athleticism as some seem to believe. I'm with numb, never really understood the Thomas Robinson fascination. Definitely a waste of a top five pick IMO

Looked him up on DX.
His size is kind of small for a PF, mediocre vert and agility, excelled at sprinting.
So I guess I should take back the crazy athleticsm post. I thought he was a lot more athletic than his measurements show based on the games in the tourney I saw him in.

I would not give up a 1st round pick for a short pf who might be a sf who has been on two teams in 6 months, can't shoot, and would have to sit behind pf favors and pf Kanter. Jazz system does support players who are 3/4 tweeners especially if said tweener can't shoot the three.

If Jazz decide that Kanter/Favors are C, and want to make a 3 man rotation of them with Robinson coming off the bench with 2 minutes left in the first quarter......maybe, but I'd wait to see who was available at 21. Won't matter, Houston would probably want more.

The Rockets will be looking for a future 1st round draft pick. They don't want guaranteed contracts this year because they want Dwight.

I am not willing to trade next years draft pick. Maybe the 2015 1st rounder(protected) but I have no idea if the rules changed on how far out the pick can be.

The 21rst pick is only guaranteed...
1rst year $1,089,100 2nd $1,138,100 3Rd$1,187,100

I guess it depends. T-Rob only has 3 million this coming year. They only save 2 million. Is that enough or does 3 make a difference? I have no idea or care to look the rules and Houston's salary

I'd rather take Adams/Gobert at #21 over T.Rob any day of the week. Those guys have MASSIVELY more upside.

They might do the deal for 2nd round picks if they are trying to clear salary. If they take a first in the trade, that money is guaranteed unless they stash the guy in Europe.

What makes him significantly better Tony Mitchell who we can easily grab at #21 and be $2million cheaper each year?

I would draft Jackie Carmichael over tony mitchell. I don't want anything to do with a player that get worse when he has supposedly better talent then everybody around him in a crappy conference. he can not make his teammates better.
