Guyz, I figured it out.
We're going to trade Burks + #21 for McCollum, then draft Shabazz at #14.
I would be livid on passing on literally ANYONE for Plumlee. I hate Larkin and I'd much rather have Larkin at 14 than Plumlee.
Plumlee is a guaranteed 10th guy on the bench for the next 5 years.
He doesn't have to be better than Burks. He has to be better than Burks AND the player we could have had at #14. That's the problem I have with these kind of deals. We'd be giving up a guy who could be a pretty solid rotation player (Burks) plus a lottery pick who probably would be a pretty solid rotation player...perhaps even the answer as our third big. And decent bigs are not easy to find. In exchange, we get ONE player we HOPE will be able to play PG. This isn't like choosing Deron vs. CP3. Everyone pretty much agreed those two would be franchise players. Is McCollum worth two lottery picks or would the Jazz be better served by saving their #14 PLUS Burks and going the FA route?I don't think McCollum will be a bust by any means, I just have my doubts about whether he'll be better than Burks. I like both quite a lot.
Because outside of Stockton and DWill, we've had so many stellar PG's like McLeod, Hart, Knight, Watson and Tinsley. Yep, the Jazz sure can find hidden gems!If the jazz get amped on a pg I trust that the dude will be solid. These guys know pgs fo real

But what other evidence is there that the organization "knows" PG's? OK, Stockton was a real find. That was the 80's under Layden. And DWill? Really can't say KOC was a genius. Everyone and their dog was saying there were two franchise PG's in the draft: Williams and CP3. KOC couldn't even find a "stop gap" PG that was worth a damn. Burks and the 21 would be good value for McCollum. Or perhaps the Jazz could buy a late 1st rounder and then trade up from the 21st slot. That would take the sting out of giving up Burks AND the #14.Come on.....those were always known as stop gaps. No one went nuts to get them.

I guess if you consider Hayward ONLY a SG and not able to play any minutes at SF. And consider Burks ONLY a SG and not able to play as a backup PG. Alec seemed to play pretty well alongside Foye last year. What really irritates me is that Corbin played an aging Foye, who was slumping and clearly gassed, instead of giving additional minutes to Burks. Alec could be worth a lot more right now. Instead, the Jazz are selling low.Other things to consider though are:
-the C4 all are potentially gonna get PAID within the next two years, meaning we could potentially lose one to over zealous owners like Paul Allen and Mark Cuban.
-Unlike Burks, Hayward, and Kanter, CJ is ready from day one. He will fit right in with our youth from the get go.
-Burks and Hayward, optimally, play the same position. If you want them on the court at the same time you are probably sacrificing something on the defensive end at least to make it work.

The goal isn't to have more players. The goal is to have better players and put the best combination of players on the floor.
If you can trade two assets to get one that you really want, it's still a good opportunity.

I don't share much anymore .. but I was told we are GOING TO GET McCollum... (as in, however, whatever..)
Good source, but there are multiple parties..
(I know how to prove this, btw)
