If we had the number one pick in the 2014 draft, would we draft Wiggins?

The more I think about this, the more I think we actually would draft someone other than Wiggins. The 2014 draft is far away and a lot will happen that will tell who should be the number 1 pick, but even if Wiggins becomes the clear number one pick, I think the Jazz choose a guy who they see as fitting into the culture and wanting to be here. Not to say that is not possible with Wiggins, but as of now the Jazz are trying to create a culture in Utah that will produce the success the spurs have seen. Essentially, Small market teams must have a winning culture if they want to be contenders in today's NBA. Void of such clear cut culture and your the Bucks or the Kings. If not in this universe, In some alternate universe, there is a future where the Jazz have the number one pick in the 2014 draft and they pass on Wiggins for a lesser star who fits the Culture, who adds and builds upon it, who seals it. If we do get the number one pick in 2014, my money is on Jabari.
 
If Wiggins is the clear choice and we pass we deserve to always come up short and be losers.

This culture crap is annoying. I'm not interested in whether a guy is nice and a good person. I want the guy that will kick your *** and step on your throat and win.

Big Al is one of the nicest NBA players ever and I couldn't wait til he was gone.

If we use the "Jazz culture" theory and pass on a player of Wiggins caliber I'd throw my laptop into the TV.

We'll see how the college season plays out and maybe it'll be closer this time next year, but now it's not even close.
 
I already made a thread about this........it didn't go well.


That being said if Wiggins and Parker are similiar in talent the Jazz will pick Parker. But according to everyone on here with more experience than me Wiggins is leaps and bounds above Parker.

Wiggins is a considerably better physical specimen.

Until we see how the next year plays out, it's Wiggins, and it's not very close.
 
What do the dregs of the board know about Wiggins that draft experts don't? He's black but NOT Mormon? Someone seriously enlighten me.
 
So in your world teh Utah jazz culture is to darft lesser players?

I understand Wiggins is athletically better but didn't Parker beat him out in player of year awards?
 
I don't know who's better yet. But Wiggins - although not mormon - seems like a nice humble kid. I think even carolinajazz would approve, so I don't get the character difference other than one is mormon and the other isn't.

Jimmer is mormon but he isn't a jazzman. Yet.
 
If you could choose between LaBron and Pierce, but you knew LaBron would be gone in 4 seasons but Pierce would stay his whole career in Utah, wouldn't you choose Pierce?
 
Actually, this could work if the downgrade from Wiggins to Parker came with assets. If the difference isn't too great and the fit is better, it probably wouldn't hurt to trade the #1 for a #2 and a 2014 unprotected first rounder. The team picking at #2 isn't likely to rebound considerably with their first year of Wiggins.

I still wouldn't do it unless there was little space between Wiggins and Parker.

If Lebron wasn't given a bunch of **** to work with, he would've stayed. The best player he played with while there was Mo Williams and Mike Brown is a joke.

It's an organization's job to win championships, and no team can have enough advantages to be guaranteed rings. It's really that simple.
 
If Wiggins has the potential to be the best player in the NBA at some point, it is hard for me to imagine him staying in Utah his whole career. I think he goes to a bigger market at some point.
