Only plausible case where the jazz end up with the 14th pick is if the are the 14th worst. If they are a topd 5 worst team they will more than likely have a top 6 pick.

Jefferson will never be on a legit team where he is the primary option.
Millsap is a stud
Mo and Devin are FORMER all-stars. They are no longer that caliber of player.

By that logic we should sign Antwan Jamison. He could lead us to the promised land as he is a former all star (twice), bronze medalist and former 6th man of the year.

This fits my argument more than yours.

The Jazz won 43 games last year and anyone rational who would have guessed their record at the start of the season would have put them in that range. I also find it funny how we should have benched Jefferson for Favors even though he's obviously a "perennial All-Star". You can't have it both ways. Either those players were mediocrity incarnate or we made a mistake with the youth movement. I don't think TC is probably the best coaching option long term(should be Horny) but we should give him the benefit of the doubt and see if he helps or hinders these young guys.
It is crazy annoying to me when NBA fans want to lay all the blame on their coaches. There are instances when it is warranted(Popovich game 6)but the game is largely won and lost by the guys on the court.
 
Lmao @ gello mentioning Mo. Dude was an absolute disaster last season. Our guard play will be the best that we've seen since DWill left IMO. Devin Harris was very underrated-- so Im thinking that our guards will be at worst as good as the 2012 season.

You may be right. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out a better win-now strategy, and I just can't think of a better idea than trading away cap space for future unprotected 1st rounders. The Jazz are clearly serious about going all in on winning this year, and getting back into being relevant again by grabbing that 8th seed or (dare I dream?) possibly even the 7th. I say good for them. It really makes no sense to be making future-minded moves when the team is as close as they are to being real contenders. It's like the song says: "Try and enjoy the here and now, the future will take care of itself somehow, the grass is never greener over there."

First off, tanking isn't about throwing games on purpose. It's about making moves that increase your odds of losing, during a time when those odds are pretty good anyway. Sure, there's plenty of grey area to argue about between the black and white, but it still comes down to splitting hairs. If this team can come together and figure out how to win, of course they'll try and go as far as they can. However, things will change if/once the team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. That doesn't mean they're going to fake injuries, but you can bet they will err on the side of caution if their starters are banged up whatsoever. Let's just put it that way.

As for how good Utah is at tanking, last time around they targeted a position were they could come away with one of two PGs. Despite getting bumped back two spots, they still came away with their man. No doubt Utah was lucky that Portland bit, but there was nothing lucky about the fact KOC had prepared for the worst, and was still able to grab Deron when we should have missed him. Coming away with the #1 pick is obviously a much tougher task to pull off, but if Utah isn't in playoff contention this year, get ready to have your bright, shiny image of their nobleness completely shattered.

I can see this..

For Example - If Trey isn't isn't the best PG then he probably doesn't get the start, but when its clear we aren't making the playoffs they put him in there for the experience regardless of who is best. Same with Gobert.
 
Are we still not allowed to point out that Burke is a rookie, hasn't played a single NBA regular season game, and we have no idea what this kid can and will do in the NBA? No? We are all still retards for being resonable? Ok just checking. Sorry.
