Quick Question #1: What's with Trey Burke's "sleeve"?

Looks like there could be many reasons. added protection to the arm, fashion, keeping shooting arm warm, hiding tattoos, confidence booster, rituals. etc.

Thank you for your contribution.

Arm protection: Can a thin layer of latex do that? It didn't look padded or anything...

Fashion: A real possibility.

Keeping arm warm: Another real possibility

Hiding tattoos: But why did he have his arm tattooed in the first place?

Confidence booster: ?? Like, How??

Ritual: ?? Again, can you elaborate??

Can anyone else chip in on this? Seems like a good list we've got going here now.

i have worn one before to help my elbow feel better. when you shoot alot your elbow starts to hurt, the arm sleeve helps the elbow bounce back after the shot is released (like a springy thing) this is the asnwer to your question, the end.

It's quite strange as:

- He did not wear it in college.

- Then he wore it briefly at NO and OKC.

- Then he took it off during last night's game????

I do wonder if it became too "itchy" for him. Did it make you feel itchy wearing it?

Confidence: Like hey all the good guys are wearing one, if I wear one I'll be cool and good too!

Ritual: A lot of professional players get into habits and have superstitions, so he could be wearing it because he already has to just make him relax.

Yes I can see what you're saying - the ritual thing is puzzling to me as I don't remember him wearing the sleeve in college.. so to suddenly start doing it had me befuddled a wee bit.

I wear one when I play. I'm willing to accept the possibility of a placebo effect, but the reason I started wearing it is because after playing consecutive weeks after not playing for awhile, my elbow hurt each time. When you shoot, it's easy to hyperextend your elbow a bit. Next week, I bought a sleeve and didn't feel any soreness. Could've been the sleeve. Could've been getting used to shooting again. Have worn the sleeve ever since.

I never notice it when I'm playing.
