Notice that almost everyone on that list is a pretty damn good player.

Makes me want embiid even more tbh

His ceiling is hakeem olijuwan.
Is hakeem a complimentary player

Hakeem was one of the greatest NBA players of all time. All freaking time. Top 10 easily, and arguably top 5. His list of accomplishments is ridiculous. Here is a player who isn't even the number one option on his college team, but he's going to be like Hakeem.

It's because big-men with a) elite post-moves b) elite defense c) superb passing skills are MUCH more than a complimentary player. Players with those 3 facets are the players that build dynasties-- and despite the fact that they might have formidable bust-potential, that's why you keep a close eye on them, and swing for the fences if you manage to get a chance at them. Name 3 big-men currently in the NBA who can claim to have those traits.

1. Who has what traits in the NBA matter little here. Embiid does not play in the NBA nor has he tested himself against proper opposition. College basketball is several levels below NBA. It's amateur basketball. You cannot claim Embiid has NBA-level elite anything.

2. Aside from elite college defense, I haven't seen any of the other things. He averages a little more than an assist a game, so I suppose maybe I'm asking too much when I try and find video of his superb passing.

Olajuwon also averaged 8.3 PPG in college in his freshmen year (while averaging 2.5 BPG), 13.9 PPG in his sophomore year, and then peaked at at 16.8 in his junior year.

Should we have casted away Olajuwon as a nobody after his frosh year cuz he couldn't assert himself as a first option, and he had history of playing soccer/didn't play basketball for a good portion of his life?

Dont shoot the messanger.

The experts who watch his every move and make a living evauluating players are the one comparing him to olijuwan.... but ya i have embiid play alot and i see the similarities to hakeem also.

Was hakeem one of the greatest players of all time when he was a college freshman? I would bet he improved between his freshman year of college and his nba retirement.
Embiid will have the same opportunity to improve as well

So you believe Embiid is going to be the first player in more than 20 years to put up a quadruple double?

Im not gonna say he cant. (He had 8 blocks in the last game i watched him in along with over 10 pts and rebounds in limited minutes and the shortened college game)
