It sucks that Gordon has the freedom to do whatever he wants. Alec Burks has to play brillant to earn more minutes and Gordon is getting 40 minutes automatically. He is not a #1 option in the offense unfortunately no one in the current roster ist. Maybe Alec?Too early to say. Why is Corbin trying to force Gordon to be that primary option?

The market is the 30 NBA teams, so if one team decides he is worth X amount of money, then the market has decided he is worth that amount.

2. 40-49.9% is "average" (and I say that because I think 40% is not very good and 49% would be very good).
3. 30-39.9% is bad.
4. Under 29.9% is abysmal.

Hayward this season
1. Great = 4
2. Very good = 8
3. Average = 11
4. Bad = 12
5. Abysmal = 12

TBH, 40% average is at the very low end of acceptable. Compared against the "qualifying" SG's (those on pace for 300 or more made FG's), Hayward is 27th. Only J.R. Smith is worse. If you look at SF's, all 17 listed at the position have higher shooting percentages than Hayward.

Whichever way you slice and dice, Gordon is having the worst year of his career in a season in which there is huge motivation to perform at a top level. Pressure of trying to do too much? Perhaps. But if he wants to be paid at the level of an all-star, he should be performing at the level of an all-star level.

Shooting isn't everything that a basketball player does though. You can't just judge based on his %'s. Paul George shot % about the same last year when asked to be the #1 option and he was on a much better team.

"Hayward wants to be paid the max cuz he thinks he is the next Larry Bird!". No, he is just trying to maximize his value like most people do in their jobs. He took a risk and didn't sign an extension (pretty small risk because his value floor is probably 9 million dollars). Hayward isn't out there making comparisons to players he wants to be paid like. His agent might be, but it for sure ain't Hayward.

I agree that the market is 30 teams and the number that can sign him is a smaller pool than that. Cy is correct, whichever teams decides to sign him for X has set his market value. I just hope the Jazz value him based on replacement cost, not on misguided loyalty.

That he has a nice shooting form and quick release...an above average jump shooter. Some games he seems unstoppable (like against OKC) and you think ¨wow, he can really shoot the ball". Then he goes on those shooting slumps where he looks lost, trying to do too much and taking bad shots... like being uncomfortable in his current role and Ty's offense. He will probably benefit by having a more competent scorer next to him and of course, a new coach.

The next Larry Bird? That's like saying Burks is the next Michael Jordan. You could say they are similar type ballplayers but they're not nearly in the same league. You're talking about all-time greats.
