Corbin needs to be fired immediately

As a Pelicans fan I can tell you the overwhelming majority want him gone. Me Included. I would also like to see Dell Demps gone with Monty.

I would be so pissed if I was a Pelicans fan. I know a lot of casual fans of the team since I live around the area, and they all love the Holiday trade. I try to tell them that it messed up the franchise. Could have had MCW and a good draft pick this year, and not have burned the team to the Evans contract. Y'all would have been set up nice for the future.

The CP3 deal was one of the most lopsided ever: Overpaid Gordon, Aminu, Austin Rivers, and Kaman for CP3. LOL

I wouldn't be upset with Hollins though.

I'm pretty positive he will have a job next year somewhere.

Firing Corbin would be dumb. Most teams experience a short burst of performance after a coaches firing. We face 6 very winnable road games, but they are also very losable, especially if the team is starting to give up on Ty. Keep Ty on for the tank. It's that simple.
Exactly. We want the team to flounder on the road and for Ty to completely lose them. Maybe if some key players were unrestricted FA's; then you'd be concerned that without a positive change, they wouldn't want to return. Jazz have no such situation. There are no important UFA's on the team. Favors is out. Hayward is hanging his head. Keep the team down and take the fight out of them. Then a new coach comes in next year and re-energizes the team.

So it's Corbin's fault if players don't exert maximum effort? I really get tired of hearing this. This isn't high school. These guys are professionals who shouldn't have to rely on a coach for motivation.

So what is a coach's job and what has Corbin done to meet those standards?

Honestly I hated the Holiday trade. I wanted Burke. I'm kind of the "bad guy" over in the Pelicans forum. Because I'm not the homer type fan that loves everything until it goes wrong than hate everything.

I actually flew up to Brooklyn for the draft. Went with my dad and brother we all were upset. Top 5 next year should give you a top level talent. We could have taken Burke/MCW since we clearly needed an upgrade over Vasquez. Than took the best available player. Davis being able to play the 4 or 5 would have given us that luxury.

I was killed in the forum for telling everyone that Gordon deal was awful. The minute we failed to re-sign him we should have traded him.

I still love my team even with the awful team name, poor coaching, and terrible front office moves.

Its Corbin's fault for the lineups that we have.

Kanter needs to play next to a a long player like Favors or Gobert.
Corbin has no idea how to space them properly on offense the way Randolph and Gasol play together or Hibbert and David West or Splitter and Duncan.
Its a joke and I am sorry if you think that Kanter and Favors can't play together and its not Corbin's coaching than sorry for a lack of a better term but.........your an idiot. Plenty of playoff contenders have rigid front court players.
Kanter and Favors are actually pretty mobile compared to other teams. So don't blame the players, blame the coach for not being able to space the floor properly.
Last year we were a top 3 defense with those 2 on the court. Yes it was off the bench but you don't go from dominating defensively to being horrible and think its just effort from the players.
And also I am not a fan of playing Boozer defense on the pick and roll where you sit in no mans land.
Last year Favors and Kanter BOTH! came out on the pick and roll hard and doubled him. And it was very successful last year.
They are teaching them to hang back now. Its bad coaching on all levels from players who he is putting together, to the strategy.

I've been back and forth about tanking. But the bottom line is that I feel like between Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors and Kanter we have the potential for a championship contender down the line (obviously some other integral pieces will need to be added). One of the keys to winning down the line will be developing winning habits and understanding what it takes to win. Those young guys will never learn/experience that if the organization is 'tanking' by having an incapable head coach who can't develop winning skills/mentality.

Even if we had the best coach of all time this season the odds are we wouldn't make the playoffs and end up in the lotto. That's fine. But at this point I couldn't care less if we end up with the 1 or the 14. If our young nucleus can gain the priceless knowledge of what it takes to win in this league for the sake of a worse pick in the lotto, I'd prefer that.

well hronaceck has a WORSE roster talentwise. yet he might make the PLAYOFF!

so i believe this roster with right guidance could have made pkayoff.

Maybe if we were completely healthy to start the season. No way Horny could have guided a team that started JL3 for that many game in a row could have made the playoffs.

Horny's team has a lot of good veterans. No doubt they have overachieved, but Dragic, Bledsoe, Frye, and Green are all good players. Still can't believe the Suns management was too dumb to give him some better players during the trade deadline. If the Suns could have gotten Gasol, I could easily see them upsetting a team in the 1st round.

Do you realize how retarded you sound comparing Favors-Kanter to Gasol-Randolph?

It is not what they can do to you!
It is really about what you can do to them.
same story with Love/Pekovic.
You can really hurt these teams with Kanter/Favors (along with Burk, Burks, Hayward, Go-bear and even Marv).
Just a magic touch of a semi-decent coach is required (were it not for the sake of TANK).
Hell, Numberica and GVC could devise a better plan for the Jazz than Corb has ever done.

Agreed. At this point who even cares anymore.

But my fear is he'll be back next year. It logically doesn't make sense with better coaches out there, but this organization can by loyal to a fault. And I say this as someone who appreciates loyalty.

That is the fear. However, most of the time when a GM Is brought in, he's given the green light to do things his way. Right from the start, Lindsey was pretty vocal in saying shortcuts had been taken in the rebuild, etc. Lindsey won the battle to have the team let the veterans go and to make the GS trade. I think the organization is committed to Dennis and his vision for the future.

Lindsey has no loyalties to Ty. And he set a PUBLIC bar against which Corbin would be measured. I think that was pretty unusual to announce it to the media. Lindsey has set up a definite way to let Corbin go. The fact they didn't extend Ty says a lot. It's an easy way out to just announce that Ty has decided to pursue other options. Looks better on his resume that he wasn't fired; looks good for the Jazz organization to say they don't fire coaches. I've said it before, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Brad Jones be the next head coach. Dennis brought him over from SA. He was very well-liked and respected in the Spurs' organization. He's won a D-League championship. He has more coaching experience than Hornacek had. Lowe and Sanders were Corbin's selections, but I always got the feeling Jones was forced upon Ty. Oh yeah, he's also Sloan's nephew.
