Following potential 2014 draftees

He just turned 19 so no im not worried. I think he will gain some weight as well as improve in all aspects of his game once in the nba a few years

Sure on all that.

You can learn a lot about an athlete by the way they catch lobs. World class athletes like Lebron and Kobe go in one fluid motion and time the pass while in the air. Guys like Wiggins and Marvin Williams have to do that hesitation hop to time their jump when going up to get it. The same thing happens when he's driving to the basket. He doesn't seem to explode in a fluid motion and needs that hesitation hop to set up a good leap to finish strong. This is the reason Marvin never turned out to what everyone thought at the time (he was also 19 but bigger and 4 inches longer than Wiggins).

I see him more of a Durant type though so maybe it doesn't really matter. It's just a whole lot harder to judge than a natural world class athletic ability.

I definitely see him putting on 20 lbs. That'll help a lot.

But I get what you mean. However, they show in the sports science video instances of him contorting his body to finish in traffic. I think he's better at finishing in traffic than you're giving him credit for, and he'll get better at it with added strength.

He probably is. I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to college ball and know you've seen a whole lot more of it than I have.

If that 40+ vertical is legit then all my worries go out the window pretty much.

He's not as good at it as I expected, I'll admit, but it's not nearly enough to move him down from the #1 spot.

frank is way off on doubting, in the least, Wiggins' athleticism. The way he 'catches a lob' (lol) must be a poor way to judge. I doubt there's a better athlete in the NBA.

Wiggins is an elite athlete, no doubt.

Then you throw in the fact that he has a foundation of scoring from everywhere... he can shoot spotting up and off the dribble; can drive; score from mid range with that floater; has basic moves with his back to the basket; moves without the ball..

He's not perfectly polished with any of these, but he can score in all these ways. Once he polishes them up (I think tightening his handle should be #1 on his list), he's a premiere player in the league.
