Does Jabari Parker have a chance at slipping past the 4th overall pick?

Favors/Gobert
Kanter
Parker/Williams
Hayward/Burks
Burke/Neto/Garrett

Then look at backup PF depth, a 3rd string big and a 3rd string wing to play SG and SF. That is 13 players...or even a starting big and make Kanter a backup...

Hire Messina and get ready for some growth and wins.

I like that team, but I would think we needed backup C depth, as Favors far more impactful defending PF's where he isn't undersized. Plus, Parker might be playing PF defensively.

The last time a Polynesian, or at least someone who looked Polynesian, was drafted high was Michael Olowokandi. Drafting a player of mixed race from the SEC at #5 has never turned out to be an all-star and has resulted in zero titles. The last Mormons drafted in the lottery were Shawn Bradley and Jimmer. The former is now out of the league and the latter is on his way out. There's never been a half-Tongan SF from Chicago to lead their team to a championship. Never. If Jabari weren't Mormon, we'd think burning our 35 on him would be a bit of a reach. If our pick comes up and Jabari is on the board, you take Aaron Gordon. You can't teach athleticism.

Hahahaha, well played.

We need to help fuel the idea that Jabari is a fat, slow, unathletic, overrated shooter who couldn't guard Roger Braille.

Go forth to the four corners of the interwebs, and preach this, my sons. A smokescreen we must create.

There you go.

Grab a starting C/Gobert and Favors/Kanter at PF.

It would be interesting to see the meltdown if Parker was at #5 and the Jazz took Gordon instead. It would be epic. I don't discount Parker dropping but I would be a little shock if Parker made it to 5. What is funny, is how the press theorizes that the Jazz want Parker because he is Mormon and how many Mormon Jazz fans pretend that it isn't a major reason why they want him. No one even knows where he falls on their board. I remember Parker be are #7 preseason on a mock draft.

I worry about the Mormon factor. Now don't go crazy, it is a compliment. Many Mormon athletes struggle with wanting to be involved in the church and be with their families so sports isn't always the biggest thing in their lives. Bradley even admitted to it. Many mormons go on missions and return don't have the same enthusiasm for sports. Now, I don't know if Parker is this way since he isn't going on a mission but perhaps Parker isn't as driven because he feels there are more important things that matter. Again, I don't know if this is true or not and it certainly is a generalization but I think you cannot entirely dismiss the idea.

So, the main idea of this thread is that we hope Parker is so unworthy of reputation that he will drop to us?

I'd say the main idea is postulating as to whether a player that was once considered "undroppable" in terms of draft-stock could drop to 5th overall.

so...what has caused parkers stock to drop?

Potential. Why draft a 5-10 time all star when you can draft a guy who "could" be a 5-10 time all star?

We all get way too caught up in meaningless parts of the game.

Jabari was the best player on a team that wasn't that good. The game will get easier for him at the next level once he gets caught up to speed.

It's still too early, the stocks can certainly change dramatically.

Furthermore, it can change even at the very last moment, with teams making very surprising picks or a certain players falling out unexpectedly.

The quote about guarding the floor was made on the John Feinstein show during a stretch when Duke was struggling and Coach K blamed himself for notinstalling the proper fundamentals with his team. I think his brother had passed away in the past year or two and Coach K said that he was not focused on the task at hand. I thought Jabari got schooled in the Mercer loss in the NCAAs.

You're doing it wrong, black-Dala. You STATE it WILL be DONE.. and that's it. None of this, "let's hold hands and pray that something likely won't happen, but then again, might.. so let's hope... "
