Sounds like he would be a solid addition.

RT @franfraschilla: Spurs shooting coach Chip Engelland factors into W tonight. Before Leonard got to San Antonio, hard time imagining this.
Among postseason challenges for Spurs is hanging onto Engelland. New GSW coach Steve Kerr, I'm told, covets Chip on his bench as assistant.
Engelland, who famously worked w/Grant Hill & Tony Parker before helping Kawhi w/his J, also said to be sought by new Jazz coach Quin Snyder

Looks like Snyder is trying to surround himself with quality people. That is a good sign.

GS job is likely more attractive as he steps right in to a contending team. Plus he's been Kerr's coach. Snyder likely knows him from being in the SA organization, but I'd say GS has the inside track.

Sounds like Brad Jones or Alex Jensen is on the way out. I'm thinking its Brad Jones since he could be bitter about not getting the job.

Also Alex Jensen was at the Aaron Gordon workout.

How many assistants are there? 3?

Based on what?

The Jazz are clearly looking in other directions for assistants. The Jazz and Snyder have had ample opportunities to say that Brad and Alex will remain on the staff but they don't. They still might stay with the Jazz but they are still looking at other options.

What are you talking about? They just brought back Brad Jones and Alex Jensen was retained. If your point is that there aren't enough coaching slots, you'd be wrong; there are three assistant slots, and two are filled (Jensen and Jones).

Quin just got hired. Teams generally don't disclose this until after they have the full coaching staff secured. Of course they are looking in other directions, but that is a part of the process any time a new head coach is hired.

A quick google search didn't yield what I was looking for in regards to Jensen and Jones, but 1280 mentioned in no uncertain terms the day Snyder was hired that Jensen and Jones are on the staff. So... *shrug*.

Confirming Jazz will hire Quin Snyder as head coach. Team is expected to hire Brad Jones as an assistant and promote Alex Jensen to bench.

This would leave a development coach position to fill. I think Engelland has strictly been a shooting coach to date, and a promotion to development coach would make sense for him and the Jazz.

Yea, also listen to the Quin Snyder interview yesterday from ESPN 700. They ask him this directly and Quin does not say that both guys are returning. Basically just hints that they are in the conversation.

Maybe they want this respected shooting coach for a specific player...................................??

It could also be for Hayward, Kanter, Burks, Burke...

Or maybe players like Gordon or Vonleh
