Offer to Cavs for #1 is to draft Wiggins not Parker

It would be easy for Lindsey to spin this and put it on Cleveland. He could say the Cavs, learning that Embiid was seriously injured, wanted to know if Favors was available via trade since Lindsey had already expressed an openness to moving up, down or out. Tell Derrick it's a COMPLIMENT if your name comes up in trade rumors...means you are viewed as a valuable player.

It seems like DL is a caring guy I bet he would make that call once the dust settles. I'm sure DL could make Favors feel loved by saying something similar to what you said.

If this is at all real and we need to throw in something like the GS 17' pick to put it over the top we really need to do it.

Sounds like the 76ers, magic, and jazz have all called the cavs too see what it would take. It seems like favors and #5 is the highest offer.

I think they leaked the trade to set the value for a pick. For example, they can now offer the bucks the fifth pick and a lesser player since it is a lower pick at two than they would be getting at number one. The. They can tell favors they never intended to trade him at all. It's a win win win. Well, the cave lose. But they always lose.

So someone tell me again why Cavs even do this trade?
Why not just take Wiggins and proceed from there.
Wiggins is still a franchise player and will sell tickets.
Why are Cavs now desperate to trade the #1 pick?
Let someone else take a big gamble for Embiid.

They probably want to win more now.

I think this is a very fair trade:

Jazz get: Wiggins

Cavs get: Favors and Vonleh/Embiid/Gordon

Really though, I'd say don't offer anymore than that.

I think Parker is a safer pick, but Wiggins has more upside. I'd be perfectly happy with either. I think we will be better soon if we draft Parker, but Wiggins might be better in 3 years.
I don't think it will take Wiggins 3 years to adjust to the NBA. Parker is going to struggle at times too. It might take him a few years especially since he needs to get his body in better shape and learn how to play defense. If it takes Wiggins 2 years to adjust, I am fine with it because the Jazz team as a whole aren't going to be ready for a 2-3 years.

It depends a lot on how confident they are that they can get Lebron to come home. Favors would complement Lebron, Wiggins or Parker would compete for the ball.

There are some people who think that the difference between Wiggins and Parker isn't as extreme as some are letting on including Kevin Pelton of espn. Maybe Cavs don't want to wait for Wigg to develop and want to start winning with Kyrie.

There is a Very real chance they could grab Favors. Draft a more ready player at 5 and then go grab Melo or land LeBron and they'd be contenders.

There's incentive for em to do it.
