Rumor: Jazz prepared to match 'any offer' for Hayward.

Hayward is not a max contract guy. We're all kinda bummed that Paul George is a star and we picked Hayday instead. Hayward's talent is inferior to George but not by too much, and that means the Jazz have almost as good of a player without having to pay the max. Jazz SHOULD save some $ on a almost as good talent. Just don't pay him max. I think he's worth 7M, but he'll get at least 10. Hopefully not much more than that.

Criticizing Hayward's ability to dribble penetrate and pass off the dribble is beyond idiotic considering the Spurs just won the Championship and the Jazz just hired a Spur's offspring. I am sure it is not lost on DL and QS that Hayward has a bit of Manu in his DNA.

I don't think ole Gordo is going to be told to go stand in the corner and wait for the ball and hoist up jumpers.

Im not critical of Gordons playmaking its well above average, my issue is paying him a premium contract because of it.

My other issue is that for all the weaknesses of Trey Burke, he did a great job taking care of the ball, I dont mind him handling the ball more. Alec when subbed in needs the ball in his hands a decent amount of time. Dante Exum is more effective with the ball than without it. Rodney Hood was the best pull-up jump shooter in the draft according to DX.

Parsons and Ariza are off the ball players, floor spacers, we need to make room for Exum, Hayward shot 30% from 3 last year I wouldnt take that gamble. If the Jazz are looking for Vets, Ariza's a great one.

Great! I'm all for taking the ball OUT of Hayward's hands. Year before last, he shot 44%/42%. Let him average 16/5/3 on two fewer shots and less touches. Exum and Burks should penetrate and kick the ball out to Gordon. Or Hayward gets his shots in transition. Burke may not turn the ball over, but he doesn't do much with it either. Jazz need to play up-tempo with their young legs, depth and the high altitude of SLC. They should be running teams off the court at home. When Burke plays, I can get up and make a sandwich and not miss a thing offensively.

I agree with Pearl. Gordon is great because he is a ball mover, as we have recently seen those guys are important. Last year he tried too hard to be a number one guy and I think the contract stuff really hurt him. If we can get an intelligent game plan he can be an important part of what we do. I think he's a great #2 or #3 guy because his skill set compliments a lot of players.

Look at the teams that want the guy... his former college coach and his former shooting coach. They know how to use this guy... Corbin, not so much.

Also, Ariza is a fine defensive player, but Gordon is no slouch. I don't see a huge difference. Also, Ariza is almost 30 about time for him to slip.

Unless your perimeter guys are the elite wing defenders (AI, Tony Allen, PG, Lebron... when he needs to be) they don't have a huge effect on opposing stars. Bigs/rim protectors are far more important to team defense.

If you play basketball you understand this. Individually getting past someone is not difficult. If you have a large man waiting for you when you do it makes life terrible.

Meeks just got 3 year and 19 M... Hayward will get the max in this market....

??? Meeks got 16 ppg on 46% FGs and 40% 3pt last. Similar scoring, much better shooting than Hayward, less all around game. $6 million per for him suggests Hayward will get the max? That's a head scratcher.

$6 is way more than I would have guessed. Meeks is an 8th man on a good team. The numbers from last year on the Lakers are inflated for the role players... Nick Young scored 18 per for them. They played a fast pace and somebody has to score on bad teams. Look at the reaction from experts on twitter... it is higher than they expected.

It may work out... I thought Korver was overpaid, but that seems to have worked, but teams have money to burn and not enough players to burn it on. Hayward will get no less then $14 per in this market.

I think another aspect that gets over looked is fit for a team. I thing Bower and Van Gundy wants to build around Drummond like Otis Smith built around Howard. One dominate paint player on offense and defense and a bunch of perimeter players. So Meeks may be worth more to the Pistons than a team like the Thunder.

Wait I'm the only one who thinks that is kind of high....
