Will Hood be starting?

I noticed he's the starter tonight and I think he was last game too. Admittedly, I haven't been paying too much attention to the Jazz as I've been busy with life but has Quin stated Hood's the starter?

I feel like Burks lovers would be in an uproar. Heck, I want to see what Burks can do in 32 minutes a night. But taking everything into consideration, I think I like it a lot. It will take pressure off of Exum as the ball handler with our second unit. He'll still hopefully be the point guard but considering his handle needs some work, having Burks there with him should help when people press him and such. In short, he can play the point and be the lead guard but also play off at times with Burks shouldering some of the lead role here or there. I also think Hood is more of a glue guy, spread the floor starter type, something Burks isn't. That's no knock on Burks. I just feel like Hood fits better and fills that role of d and three glue guy better. Moreover, starting Hood allows Hayward to go back to the 2 which I personally feel is his better position.

But will Hood even be the starter?

Nah, you have to give Burks a chance to see what he can do in a starting lineup.

I still think Burks best role is 6th man though, so I think Hood should probably eventually be the starter.

Wouldn't be a completely awful idea to start Hood while playing Burks more minutes and to end the game. Scoring with the 2nd unit looks like it could be problematic this season, but not having Burks in the starting lineup could create scoring problems there.

But Hood will not start.

Just have to tell Burks he's Manu Ginobili.

I think Alec will want to start...that's the best way for him to build his value in a contract year so he's not going to be happy as a 6th man. Unless, he gets an extension. Then I'd like to see him come off the bench. As mentioned, playing Burks with Exum takes pressure of the rookie. Also gives Alec more freedom to score.

Ultimately, I see the Jazz signing a FA who gets released from a contender. That old guy from Australia looks pretty solid. Joe Ingels or something like that.

Who's our scorer off the bench if Burks starts?

Hood looks ready - let him start.

Is the lineup of burke-hayward-hood-kanter-favors going to work defensively?

Thats a lot of slack to pick up for gordon and dfav. But maybe coach quin can make it work.

Starting backcourt:
Burke/Burks

Backup backcourt:
Exum/Hood

Reason: I think playing Burks with Burke is better than playing Burke with Exum because of lack of 3 pt shooting. I think it would be better to pair Exum with Hood because I think it will make it easier for Exum having a good 3pt shooter on the floor. Just my opinion!

We didn't have a good playmaker in the bench last season.

Now we have Exum. He's more than capable. Let him play with Hood et al.

Burks is a starter not only for his offense, but his defense especially.

Burke
Burks
Hayward
Kanter
Favors

Exum
Clark/Felix/Murry
Hood
Booker/Novak/Evans
Gobert

Our bench really ain't that bad. We definitely need a backup 2 or 3 tho. Sucks for Cooley and Motum

Burks has waited his turn... start him. Hood isn't just a shooter... he can run PnR well and can have the ball in his hands more on the second unit.
