Another forum I frequent has regular giveaways for premium members. Now, this other site (homebrew related) is very large and homebrewers buy lots of gear related to the hobby so the vendors offer up their goods for free and all the website has to do is organize the giveaway.

I'm not sure if that's a possibility for Jazzfanz, but on the other site it is a pretty big driver for new paid memberships. I wonder if it would be possible to do something like that here. Maybe some free tickets or some jazz jerseys or something? Just not sure who exactly would be putting up the swag.

Just an idea.

I hear hottie triple k is giving away his virginity!!!

This site has enough active users, I suppose, that I don't think anyone would need to put up any money for free schwag. I can't imagine the Jazz' PR department denying Jazzfanz a bunch of free tickets, etc. We are, after all, giving them a crap-ton of free advertising, and have been for years. I don't know the actual numbers, but I bet the site generates enough traffic to entice even local businesses to offer free crap; it's super cheap advertising, and in a tight-knit community like this one, it might actually pay dividends for the small business.

I graduated from high school, barely, so clearly I know all about how this stuff works. Get on it, Jason.

I have no idea if you're making fun of me or supporting my awesome idea.

Since you're such an expert, go ahead and call the PR dept and set that up.

This is a good idea, just need to have time to find participating sponsors. Thanks for the idea, seriously.

Clearly the best way to entice people to upgrade their membership is to abolish the limit on RAP (Rep Adjustment Power) for Premium Members.

I can see how this happens because I'm usually a dick, however, I was being sincere on this one. There is a treasure hunting site that I read occasionally and it is one of the slowest boards I've ever been on; maybe a dozen active contributors. But because they are such a tight-knit group, and because they all buy their gear based on recommendations from each other -- i.e. they all spend their money at the same stores on the same things -- they have online scavenger hunts and yearly "meetings" where they give away all sorts of stuff that the local shops donate. This isn't all sissy stuff either; expensive metal detectors, gold coins, gps systems, etc. The only way it works though is if the members of the board patronize the businesses, and then talk about how awesome they are on the forums. Win/Win, tbpfhwy.

If it works on a board with 12 active users, it should work here. I asked Brother Jason to send me some stats on the site and I might even actually have a few ideas on how to score some schwag. If I can find some time between fishing and reading, I'll give it a go.

Probably.

E. J. because of his mean disguise, franklin because of his intellectual complex trolling, addictionary because of his eccentric humor and babe because of his tl;dr posts, are the hardest posters to understand in the forum, imo.

I also think you should be able to purchase Rep points. $10 = 1,000 seems like a fair price. Everything else is for sale nowadays right? Why not Rep points?

Buyer gets the points, the site gets more $$$ towards server costs, etc. Win/Win.
