Shoud the Jazz Claim Josh Smith?

Pretty alarming they couldn't find a team that wanted to trade for him. Detroit is going to use the stretch provision to amortize his contract. That hurts their ability to go after FA's for the next several years. Welcome to lottery hell, SVG!

Addition by subtraction. I think this move was made right now to allow Monroe and Drummond to play together without Smith's horrible efficiency issues and bad attitude dragging the team down as SVG tries to build around his twin towers. This move screams of tryin to extend Monroe next year. They've kept him, so they still have his Bird rights and can sign him for more than any other team. They just need to convince him to stay. Getting rid of Josh Smith was a step inthe right direction.

The dude may be a cancer, but this year if he were on the Jazz he would be fifth in scoring, second in rebounding, second in assists (More than Hayward) and 2nd in blocked shots. Would you rather have him or Ingles coming off the bench?

As of today give me Ingles 100 out of 100 times! If we were contenders with a group of players who are tough with personality you're right. Just not the time. So please let go.

Ingles for 500K or Josh Smith for 14 million for the next 3 years? Ingles and it's not even close especially having in mind that we are not contending right now.

Josh Smith probably thinks he's a starter especially on a team with 9 wins. I doubt this experiment would end well. To answer your question, I'd take a one armed Ingles.

Once you factor in the money, it's a no-brainer. Smith is toxic and his contract is an albatross. In hindsight, the Pistons should have been elated that the Kings wanted to make a deal in the offseason. SVG nixed it and it bit him in the ***. He'll end up on a contender and probably play well for half a season. . . but any team that signs him to big money deserves exactly what they get.

HT advocating to get a player is the kiss of death for that player. Smith is doomed.

What's the difference between Lance and Josh Smith? Both guys are cancerous yet you have consistently liked Lance. Not to change the subject just curious.

I wouldn't sign Josh once he cleared waivers and I definitely wouldn't claim him off waivers. There is absolutely talent there, but we aren't a fringe contender or even a playoff team looking to get over the hump.

Lance still plays very good defense and has more of a position that fits on this team.
