If Burke would stop thinking about shooting and focus on creating for others, then maybe his shot will come around.
Or not. It doesn't even matter whether his shots come around, you can still be a servicable PG in this league even if people don't respect your shot at all. I'm not just talking about early Kidd or prime Rondo. I still have fond memories of Earl Watson. Yes, he couldn't shoot, yes his height made it harder for him to guard many backcourts, but he would come in, throw some lobs to Evans, set up guys and try to hold down the fort until a starter came back in. In other words, he did what he was good at, and recognized his own limitations.
Here's a crazy stat about Burke this year. He has had a dozen games where he took 10 or more shots and shot under .300(!) for the game. That includes the goose egg he laid last night, 1-10 against the Cavs, the absolute stinker against the Hawks when he went 2-19, and the 2-13 game against the Suns a few days ago. Here's the kicker. Only 3 times of those 12 did he have more than 5 assists. He just has no recognition of when to just stop shooting. It's not even about waiting for easy buckets and getting confidence up and whatever. Just stop shooting. Do other things. Help your team.
