What's new

Maybe we can get Brogdon

SLC is fairly progressive. But Utah doesn't exactly have that reputation. Kind of deserved actually.
Utah is one of the most infamously backward, conservative states in the country. You can count on Utah’s government making national headlines once a year for some inane, embarrassing policy advocated by shameless theocrats.

This is kind of a lost cause. Half the fan base couldn’t remember that Millsap has two L’s in his name.

That being said, I agree. There’s no excuse for misspelling a name that could be cleared up in 5 seconds on a google search.
Actually, I was too lazy to go back and check and just posted the link. Mea Culpa. Fixed ... see that they've allowed us now to fix the thread titles.

I had a great time in Utah and didn’t face any serious racism whatsoever. might be different for a black man but he will love Utah for sure

Utah is a great place... I left, but I loved growing up there. It has grown a lot and has some cool stuff going on. That said I would not describe Utah as progressive.

Not sure "progressive" will be #1 on his list doe... unless it is "who will progressively give me the most cash".

I don't think Utah is any more racist than any other place... It is certainly not diverse... though may be more diverse than Milwaukee.

It's not more diverse than Milwaukee, but it is less segregated. But there is still some segregation, moreso if you are Latino/Pasifika. Brown people tend to live on the west side of the city, which was by design in the early part of the city's history.

The east side has been a stronghold for pioneer-heritage LDS since the 1800s. Not that these people were always considered white. mind you:

Bragdon is one hell of a player and is an upgrade over Rubio particularly in Q"s system. However Utah needs to be careful. Can he create his shot? Can he handle scoring consistently? He has certain limitations and probably can't be a star. Signing him long term might well mean saying goodbye to title contention.

Pretty sure it's Brogdun dude.

Yes! Diversity and segregation are not the same. SLC has fairly low levels of segregation (progressive), and extremely low levels of (esp. black) diversity (not progressive).

As for racism ... that's harder to measure, but I'd guess that it's in the mid range or the mid-to-low range, all things considered -- probably not too notable one way or the other (despite stereotypes).

My department at work is pretty small. In my department there is about 5 guys from mexico, 1 from cambodia, 1 from korea, a woman from ukraine, a woman from bolivia, a guy from argentina, a guy from brazil, a couple of polynesians, and handful of caucasions. (also a few people that i dont know as well and havent talked to much that appear to be hispanic but i dont know what ethnicity they are). there was a guy from africa in my department too who left to a different plant too. I think there is probably only a handful of african americans in my whole plant though. Only 2 that i can think of for certain but there a many shifts that i dont interact with or see much so there might be a couple more.

I feel like the salt lake city area is pretty diverse with decent size populations of polynesians, hispanics, and asians. Definitely very very few african americans though. Also of note, i live in a poorer west side area of the salt lake valley so that might influence my perspective. My particular neighborhood is very diverse.

Is his beef with the team or city?? Is the team racist?
IDK. Just saying that if he was happy with everything with his team and city then he would be more likely to be re-signed that if he wasn't happy with everything imo.
