Four oil tankers sabotaged

Hmmm is right. State sponsored? False flag? Pompeo got a really chilly reception at the EU meeting in Brussels today, and warnings from several that mistakes and accidents can lead to war. The US is really putting a strangle hold on Iran's economy. I doubt Iran wants escalation at all, but it just seems like the US, especially Pompeo and Bolton, want to goad Iran into firing the first shot. Are we really going to try for regime change in Iran?

"I'm hearing little stories about Iran," Trump said at the White House. "If they do anything, it would be a very bad mistake. If they do anything, they will suffer greatly."

All this at the time that Spain, the only non-US presence accompanying the US fleet, has decided to pull out their vessel when they learned that the US fleet was wanting to head to the straight of Ormuz, in fear of being dragged into a conflict. Rightfully so if you ask me.

The Trump administration going full psycho.

There seemed to be much more pushback from the media against the war in Iraq (from which there was very little pushback) than this war. It’s almost like the media has resigned to the idea that trump is going to plunge us into a recession via trade wars and start a new catastrophe in the Middle East via an actual war.

Am I the only one sensing this?

If the media were truly in the hands of, “the left” you’d think they’d be scrutinizing everything about our escalation with Iran.

Btw, sounds like trump has got Republican Senators on board. Sen Tom Cotton:

The truth about trump’s “investigate the investigators” strategy is:

1. It delegitimizes the findings of the Mueller report.
2. It intimidates the FBI from conducting further investigations. Which is sort of their jobs... they’re to protect us. It sends a message to other law enforcement agencies that trump will politicize any crime against him. Does the southern district of New York and others really want to go through that?
3. It provides him with political cover to fire people and implant his own yes men. I understand that Christopher Wray was his pick for the FBI. But that was early. And if trump isn’t happy with his services, he’ll find some other yes man to serve him.

if people thought the war in Iraq and its rebuild was costly... Iran is going to be 100x worse. Literally, the only worse war I could think of would be an invasion of North Korea.

For starters, War in Iran will trigger mass migrations across the Middle East and Europe. Refugee populations that clearly we have no interest in helping with. It will reinvigorate extremist groups. How can Muslims not believe were a rogue and dangerous force? It will cost the United States trillions. Which is funny, cuz we just gave ourselves a gigantic tax cut resulting in a trillion dollar loss of revenue. It will further antagonize our allies and aid in China’s and Russia’s mission to smear our name.

This is such a disaster. But this is what the rubes wanted, right? They were tired of “normal” political leaders.

Not sure why Senator Cotton thinks we will ever quickly win a war. When's the last "two strike" war we've had? All we do is enter wars we shouldn't. It's depressing and immoral.

This Washington Post report indicates pushback from Trump. One thing this indicates to me is the degree to which Trump catches on to what his underlings are doing after the fact, rather then before.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...f5835e-1fbf-4035-a744-12799213e824_story.html

....President Trump is frustrated with some of his top advisers, who he thinks could rush the United States into a military confrontation with Iran and shatter his long-standing pledge to withdraw from costly foreign wars, according to several U.S. officials. Trump prefers a diplomatic approach to resolving tensions and wants to speak directly with Iran’s leaders.
Trump grew angry last week and over the weekend about what he sees as warlike planning that is getting ahead of his own thinking, said a senior administration official with knowledge of conversations Trump had regarding national security adviser John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

“They are getting way out ahead of themselves, and Trump is annoyed,” the official said. “There was a scramble for Bolton and Pompeo and others to get on the same page.”

Bolton, who advocated regime change in Iran before joining the White House last year, is “just in a different place” from Trump, although the president has been a fierce critic of Iran since long before he hired Bolton. Trump “wants to talk to the Iranians; he wants a deal” and is open to negotiation with the Iranian government, the official said.

I understood that John Bolton is a warmonger. I think everybody must realize by now that that is the case. This is the guy who advocated a preemptive strike against North Korea, and has advocated for regime change in Iran for years. What I did not realize is the degree to which his Christian evangelical views may be shaping how Mike Pompeo views the Middle East and conflict in the Middle East. Reading these articles brought me up to speed on that score.

We won, imo, Afghanistan and Iraq very quickly. We just choose to stay and nation build, people rebelled.

Weird.

It’s almost like the president spends most of his day sitting on his *** watching tv, tweeting out nonsense, and playing golf rather than getting to know his cabinet members and what their actual foreign policy views are. So weird

Great logic. After all, it would be impossible for the FBI to have begun this investigation for political reasons. There is no chance that anyone would ever abuse the FISA system by getting warrants without just cause. There's absolutely no way that anyone at the FBI would withhold evidence or misrepresent opposition research in their efforts to seek justice. From now on our intelligence community ought to be able to pursue their goals without having to look over their shoulder fearing that some do-gooder might make demands that they operate within the law.

This is stupid.

#1 Comey was republican. As is Mueller. So even if the FBI had been politicized, I don’t think it would’ve worked out against trump.

# 2 hillary was investigated... twice in fact. Very publicly. So in your deplorable mind, Comey wanted to tank President Trump by giving him the election by tanking Hillary’s campaign? You understand that if there really had been a political agenda, Comey would’ve just announced his counter investigation into Trump prior to the election, right?

#3 No, I don’t believe the FBI has been politicized. I believe our men and women working in intelligence were doing their duty. They are the anti-bodies of our country. Why did republicans hate our men and women in blue so much?

#4 Why did trump lie so many times about his communications with Russia? And his business dealings with Russia?

Oh good. Apparently there is no reason for you to worry about this investigation.

Absolutely. I trust the FBI and our intelligence agencies. I’m reading the Mueller report right now. Still reading vol I. Have you read it?

You and your ilk trust Donald Trump, a man caught lying more than 10,000 times. Remember this dandy? Look at the pathetic rodent lying to your face while you lap it up:

Or how about this?
