What's new

Well, the good news is Rubio will definitely not be back next year.

How is Chicago a good fit? If I’m them I stay young and learn together. Is he gonna teach them how to win or something?
It's more to do with Chicago having a roster full of guys that need to be fed and no one to feed them than anything else. I doubt they get a guy in the draft who helps them with that after they slipped in the lottery, and signing Rubio to a fat contract for like a 1 + 1 doesn't really change much imo in terms of their young core being able to grow and learn together while also giving the young guys a coach on the floor who isn't going to make them run suicides the next day if they stuff up, and worst case scenario Rubio doesn't help them win and they get another crack at the lottery with the top 5 picks all up for grabs this time around (I think).

I don't really get why Rubio would want to do that but I get it from Chicago's standpoint.

wow He's a little unaware to put it mildly. Although his comments have a sharper aim than his corner 3 airballs.

I feel like there is some stuff lost in translation. It's only a sentence from an interview with a Spanish journalist. I don't think he would throw anyone on our roster under the bus.

Eh there’s an awful lot of hidden context required to make that sound anything less than sour grapes

A point guard that can't shoot. Championship teams are really lining up for him. If you can't shoot, you're not playable in the playoffs.

Woah, under Quin Snyder when Jazz pgs leave town they all burn the bridges behind them.

Trey Burke, George Hill, Ricky Rubio....

Hidden context like what? He was hurt and he is honest about it when he says it will factor in where he goes. That's anything but sour grapy.

that's exactly what it was. He played awfully to start the year and they tried to trade him for a much better player. If he's hurt by that it's time to wake up

He is simply not good enough in any facet of the game to start for a contending team. Period. His passing isn't even par because his reads are crap and his deliveries are inconsistent. I thought he was going to be amazing for the Jazz, I was wrong. I would be surprised if he gets a contract for 10m. The Jazz are idiots if he comes back at any price, and I say that with confidence, because they aren't.

Anyone has a link to the whole interview? I may be able to translate if it's in Spanish and not Catalan. What he said seems taken out of context and people finding an excuse to bash him

Maybe thee key reason we weren’t a 55-56 win team and making the conference finals was because of his atrocious offensive output. And if he thinks he’s gonna play the leading role on a playoff team with serious aspirations he’s ****ing delusional.

We didn't start out well last year because our schedule was brutal with a ton of road games against tough teams. Plus, our offense was sputtering for whatever reason, but by the end of the season we were a well oiled machine blowing teams out with 30 assists per game and 15 dunks per game as well!

He can shoot, just not that well. However, he was improving toward the end of last season and his understanding of the PG position and his ability to get the ball to the big boys is outstanding! We have interchangeable parts and if we need our PG to score we can always let Donovan play the point as he continues to improve in most areas of his game! I think our last 20 games was more indicative of what we will do this year than our first 20 games of last year! We pick up a couple of decent shooters on the cheap, we are going to be strong the whole season! But Rubio NEEDS to stay with the Jazz! Any change at PG may send our offense into a tizzy that will be hard to recover from!

Wait until Exum gets kicked to the curb... that guy gonna write a novel and go on Oprah and stuff.

Seriously though, if Utah is telling Ricky he is out this early, then they already have a solid plan for his salary. That is good news. There would be no upside to alienating Ricky if the Jazz were completely winging things this off-season. They never did that with Favors. Ricky isn't going to sign anywhere the first day of free agency, Jazz could have floated him and returned if nothing panned out.
