Insights and what we can take away from the preseason ..

OHH I see, that was your attempt at being humorous. LOL, what a knee slapper! I couldn't tell because your attempts at being knowledgeable and humorous are one in the same. Stupid and laughable. The only big fat NOTHING is what your parents produced when making you.

**** me dead you’re as infantile and moronic as you are just a plain old stupid try hard

I'm puzzled by your statement, that Mitchell is "ready to take another step ON BOTH sides of the court." On the offensive side, yes. He looked more in control than ever. On the defensive side, though, he doesn't seem to be putting much effort. At least I did not see it. It is preseason, of course, and taking it easy is to be expected. Nevertheless, what makes you think that Mitchell will be much better defensively? I did not see any sign of it and I'm honestly curious.

he’s playing much better defense... have you watched? He’s been playing pretty damn hard on that end.

The only thing I can really take out if it is that our defense is going to take a while, maybe like half a season, to gel. We're going to have to patient in general.

He looks in better shape and his offensive workload is lighter this year, so i can see him having more juice defensively.

he looks great on defense and looks stronger going to the basket. Defense is tough to measure... most look at steals and blocks... it’s more about being in the right spot and staying in front of guys. DM looks much better moving around screens and moving his feet. Think Klay not Kawhi here.

Preseason was reps with these guys to allow them to work together. It was a chance to let Q see what combo's did together. It was time for the team to get back into shape a bit, try to get their shots, and communicate.

These are the insights I got.
This is basically a first year together and will take a little time to gel as a whole.
DM is ready and is ripping the nets if the Portland game says anything.
Gobert is ready, but is on autopilot.
Ingles is ready and fine as 6th man, and his trash talk game is at about 90% after that preseason technical directed at the ref.
Royce looks good.
Conley is getting up to speed fast.
Bojan is breaking the rust off slow.
Green looks like a bright spot.
Davis... I might be a little disappointed so far tbh.
Mudiay, I really liked what he brought against Portland and I think he could be a stellar addition to this team as time goes by.
Exum = myth. I'm Jekyl and Hyde on him. Sometimes I hold on to hope, and other times I say cut your losses because he will just get hurt again.
Bradley has been a pleasant surprise. He could actually bring something to this team this year.
Niang seems to either be the same, or to have regressed a bit. Tough to really tell, pre season and all
3 spots for these guys - Howard, Kidd, Oni, NWG, Collinsworth (Howard, Oni, NWG) That leaves Kidd and Collinsworth out imo. I'd make a case for Collinsworth if he could shoot the 3. A PG that set the NCAA record for triple doubles doesn't come around often if ever, there are some definite skills there if he can develop.
2-way contracts - Brantley, JWF -- Brantley looks big and athletic. If he develops more he could make a strong case for regular time on this team going forward.

If it is going to take half a season then I worry what our record will look like.

I didn’t watch a lot of the preseason, but it was clear that they were taking the games like practice: running the same set on multiple consecutive possessions, not going full-contact or full-juice on defense, etc. And it’s fair to wonder how gassed they were from long practices between games.

But I saw plenty of things to make me worried about a slow start to the season.

The Jazz defense will suck cause the team overall is too small - you can't be a great defensive if you are too small. Last year, the Jazz was average or longer at 4 positions not including Donovan. This year, the Jazz are only longer at one position.

I think Bojan needs to get out of the starting lineup until his offense comes back.

If the Jazz want to be good defensively then the Jazz needs this lineup to get some size back on the floor.

Conley
Mitchell
Royce
Green
Gobert

I think Bojan needs to get out of the starting lineup until his offense comes back.

I'd take it further than that. If he doesn't produce enough in the first five games to legitimize his contract, they should give him the ol' Julius Caesar and dump his body in one of Quinn's favorite hiding spots.

** Mitchell and Conley both think they can go score a bucket anytime they want. They're just being nice and letting the other guys play too.
** Mudiay is then like, "Yeah, hold my kombucha."
** I think Gobert would have taken the entire pre-season off if he wasn't needed to help acclimate the new players. He's been playing half speed unless the action comes right to him.
** The Jazz were probably trying some complicated plays that Bogdanovic wasn't grasping. They may have to simplify things for him for a while until he catches on.
** Teams seem to be trying to play at a very fast pace. This happened last year too at the beginning of the season.
** Tony Bradley is playable against a bunch of other teams' backups.

These are better, more complete highlights. I look at this and it's just a matter of Portland hitting tough, contested shots over and over. Our defense doesn't look that bad.
