Clarkson is Here to Stay

Clarkson was really bad last year. He was probably the main reason for losing. He was getting assists but also turning it over a lot and bad turnovers. That said if he goes back to scoring 6th main and isn't trying to create for others as much he will have up and down games but he will by himself win you a handful of games when he's hot. He will also lose you games by himself though. For a team trying to win that's not great for a team trying to lose that's also not great.

His ideal role was scoring for our team when we had very little offense outside Mitchell and solid defense.
The main reason for losing was playing our inexperienced guys major minutes. Sensibaugh was the 4th worst player in the entire NBA (among those who played significant minutes) by Net Rating, Keyonte, Hendricks and Agbaji were also spectacularly bad.

Clarkson is bad against good teams but he is still a floor raiser: when Utah faces true bottom dwellers like Detroit or Washington having Clarkson with his passing would allow our bench unit to outplay their benches. In the same way having Sexton would pull our starters above whoever other tanking teams would have. It is these wins that are killing you when you are trying to tank.

Those guys only played after we pulled the plug on the season.

Yeah development minutes and all.

I think the fact that we have 3 rookies and 3 second year guys competing for minutes the starting rotation is bound to include better net positive guys than what we fielded in those end of season lineups.

+ Juzang and Eubanks trying hard to prove they belong.

That is absolutely not true. Keyonte and Agbaji played big minutes way before we pulled the plug. Here is their stat line from No.29: Keyonte - 24 min, Agbaji - 21 min .
December 8: Keyonte - 28 min, Agbaji - 17, Hendriks -12 (Hendriks averaged 17mpg in December and he was awful).
December 28 - Keyonte and Agbaji played 38 minutes combined, 1-9 shooting, the Jazz lost by 7 points etc.

True, Agbaji did get minutes early and Keyonte ramped up pretty quick after the first month. Hendricks hardly played until late February.

Yet Clarkson still tied for worst defensive rating with Keyonte on the team. He was 2nd worst bpm behind Brice. There are plenty of other bad stats. He was really really bad last season and played a huge role especially the first half of the season. At around the end of December he was bottom 4 in win shares in the entire NBA, right next to Scoot and Poole. He was really bad and easily the biggest reason we were losing at that point in the season. His role was changed after that and the young guys picked up playing more.
