Jazz sign Svi Mykhailiuk for 4 years, $15 mil

So this is NOT going to be a 100% tanking season after all?

Help me out, I'm confused.
Its (hopefully) 100% youth development season and 80% tanking season I would say. I mean how could it even be 100% tanking season when they extend Lauri instead of trading him?

Svi and Eubanks are the type guys you put out there when someone deserves a moment in the doghouse.

With Eubanks its super easy to see. If Kessler and/or Flip plays soft then Hardy can put Eubanks out there to show how not to be soft. Svi I'm not that familiar with, but I would imagine he probably is a high effort and high motor guy who can show Cody and Hendricks that effort can beat talent.

Stop it. You are making yourself look like an absolute idiot by saying "it makes zero sense".

Like sure, you can prefer giving the young guys automatic minutes by bringing in some absolute trash vets... but whether they should get automatic uncontested minutes or not is a debatable topic at the very least. Whatever YOUR preference to fill the roster spots would have been, you have to acknowledge that bringing in perennial end of benchers to fulfill the roster requirements is absolutely standard practice.
We are actually in agreement here: the conversation got spread out over several post and the point that I was making was that the signings of Swi and Eubanks make zero sense if the plan for the upcoming season is to go full tank or to use the season mostly for developing young players. It does make perfect sense if the Jazz intend to do repeat what they did in the last two seasons: try winning games by heavily playing veterans (and, later, possibly trading a couple of them). This strategy would get the Jazz the pick in the 8-10 range and most likely severely restrict the minutes played by Hendricks, Brice, Flip, Cody and Juzang. They would feast on the teams doing an actual tank: the rotation of Kessler, Collins, Lauri, Keyonte, Sexton, Eubanks, Clarkson, and Swi is too much for the Wizards or Pistons.

I have to admit that every morning I would run to the interwebs to see how these two did the night before. Nothing says electric like these two. These two guys are what Krysko calls pick setters, jersey grabbers and spacers. Every NBA team has them and they are necessary. The most interesting thing I would find on Eubanks is that he and Kris Dunn were signed to 10 day contracts by the Blazers at the same time a couple of years ago.

I someone thought that we are just gonna play guys regardless of how they perform.. I dont buy that for a second.

But as we saw with Key last year Hardy isnt afraid to let them make mistakes out there.

I assume performance will at least moderately impact playing time; would be odd otherwise, to say the least.
That said, Hardy's thing with George last season was a good tad beyond letting him make mistakes.

If he was more skilled than we realized, he wouldnt be a career negative offensive player since he is viewed as being a shooter.

Advanced stats wise his defense is stronger than his offense, which I would guess if you polled NBA fans who are aware of him, they would be surprised to find. I know I was.
He’s played five years and just signed with the jazz making us his 8th team in 5 years. Hard to learn winning basketball when you can’t stick with a winning team. The fact he was drafted middle to late second round and still around is telling you that there’s something there. Everytime he goes to a new team he has to rebuild trust.

Tells me he is athletic and a decent defender, so teams are willing to see if the offense ever comes around given that was his reputation entering the NBA. But he's much less skilled than people's perception of him is.

The league is a business guys get traded and first rounders get more opportunities I don’t know the circumstances for how he left a team be it him being cut for various reasons or traded as part of a bigger trade or whatever.
