Gordon Hayward Retires

I listened to this.. it was Leif Thulin levels of boring. The loyal jazz fans quote was hilarious. This doesn't strike me at all as a reunion tour. Think Gordon is trying to market some movie company he is invested in or some ****. IDK but it was melatonin.

At the end of the day it's a positive thing to be viewed as a player friendly franchise. Utah is trying to hammer home that angle.
And hammer home that we side with any player that betrays our franchise?

Why not invite Derek Fisher back as well and let’s sing Kumbaya.

Get the **** out of here with that ****.

Nothing is more boring than Leif "Use the same big word over and over again I'm" Thulein

Leif is a big drop off from Locke for sure. I don't agree with everything Locke comes up with, but at least he makes me think and has some unique perspectives.
Leif just says the same thing over and over and over and over again. If you played a drinking game every time he said "diminutive" you'd die after any segment he does on Sexton.

I know a lot of people here through a ****ing bitch fit over the "Acquire Kawhi" episode, but at least it's something different to think about.

I just can't blame anyone for joining that Boston team when the Warriors were in the West. I think any logical person would do the same. The only benefit to staying in Utah was there being less pressure in a small market. Boston had the better team, better assets, better GM, better marketability, easier path to the finals, better coach, etc.

I think 9/10 free agencies Hayward stays with Utah, but the perfect team happened to have cap-space and had a strong connection with Hayward. Lindsey was foolish to think he could compete with Danny Ainge and Boston.

He's just too monotone and Locke has his flaws but monologuing is a really unique skill and he's good at it. When Leif gets done I think he's going to end with "now you have a friend in the diamond business". IYKYK

Him choosing to leave is all good and fine. That's not what is causing all the venom from Jazz fans. It's that he put on a fake show to make it seem like he was really undecided (even though his wife tipped his hand on instagram well before his Players Tribune article), when he was planning on Boston all along. He kept the Jazz on a chain and waited an entire WEEK, while every single good potential alternate the Jazz could have pivoted too was snatched up. All this was so he could have the spotlight on himself. Eff that guy.

Nailed it.

Not surprised Cy doesn’t get it though.

Ehh, I believe it was a decision. I also believe everyone saw the writing on the wall of what was likely to happen. It's not on Hayward, it's on the Jazz for not recognizing the clear risk

It is possible for both the Jazz to have been foolish and for Hayward to have been an idiot.

And of course he's pivoting now that he's retired and looking for a "home," so to speak. Where else might fans remember him a 5-10 years from now but in SLC?

Again, I guarantee it's the Jazz who are the ones initiating it because they have quite literally said it's their initiative to have every former player back in Utah and celebrated.

Lol get use to seeing him. This is the olive branch. He's going to be an alumni who comes to games and does the reunion thing the Jazz like to do with older players
They can try, but it’s hard to come back from this ************ ruining my 4th of July.

I don't think anyone's holding a gun to his head. Also, does this policy include Kirk Snyder?

Has anyone ever listened to a locked in network pod besides the Jazz? Just curious if the quality is typically Locke level or Leif level?

This is what bothered me. This was a key time to tie up potential salary. After the waiting, and having him walk when he clearly knew he was walking, several key free agents were already signed by other teams and we all know our options are slim as it is. To wait and then pick from the remainders was a blow to the team and imo was an intentional payback from Hayward from the perceived sleight from not getting paid what and when he wanted. Sure there is blame on both sides but one play was “I’m not sure you are worth the money” fairly soon after the AK47 debacle, the other was a “screw you” kick to the nuts on the way out the door.

Totally different vibe imo.

That being said, I never wished that injury on him and I think Midnight is loco. My limit would be for some random player to put a finger in his ear, but I’d never wish for an injury. That’s messed up.

I don’t wish it but Karma is automatic.

It’s the Universe’s way of righting a wrong.
